Why should the Jet Sweep be a part of your offense?
The Jet Sweep's versatility extends beyond its primary function. It also serves as a valuable decoy in an offense's playbook. The mere threat of the play forces defenses to respect the motion and adjust accordingly, potentially of the field. For instance, a fake Jet Sweep can set up a variety of other plays. Power and Counter runs, play-action passes, and screens can exploit what the defense is doing to stop the Jet. The constant motion and misdirection keep the defense guessing, making it harder for them to key on specific plays.

Why should you use Gap-Down-Backer?
• It is simple to teach, learn, and implement at any level of football.
• It does NOT involve Combo Double Teams, so your offensive linemen will not have to decide who comes off the Double to pick up a linebacker.
• Your smaller and younger d with the G-D-B blocking scheme.
• Bigger, experienced players will dominate with the scheme.
• The angles are from God. You could say the “angles” are from the “angels.”
• Speaking of angles, G-D-B is based on using the leverage from the angles. This leverage lets smaller linemen succeed, and bigger linemen dominate.
• I believe it allows for more aggression by the OL because they know where they are going; they have tracks that they block, and it involves very little post-snap decision-making by your OL. A player who knows what they are doing will be more aggressive and play faster.
• G-D-B works against any front; the more defensive linemen, the better; every gap is accounted for by the G-D-B blocking scheme.
• The Down Blocks can make LB fits difficult. If they fit up inside, they get lost in the wash.
• Blitzing a G-D-B scheme team is NOT a good idea; the Down blocks pick off the blitzing LBs.
• The offense can still succeed with stalemates across the front. A vertical push isn't required for success; it is all about horizontally displacing the defensive front.

ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES
Is your team a Gap Scheme team, or are you considering using the scheme next season? Elevate your offense with Coach Chip's Offensive Line Manual Gap-Down-Backer for Gap-Down-Backer Blocking: Unleashing the Power of Angles and Leverage.
Ready to take ine to the next level? Look no further than my offensive line manual.
A strong offensive line is essential to offensive success. I've coached high school football for over 40 years. I have poured that experience into a comprehensive manual designed specifically for football coaches like you.
What sets this manual apart? It focuses on the Gap-Down-Backer scheme—a proven method for dominating the line of scrimmage and creating opportunities for your offense to excel. This blocking scheme is a game-changer at all levels. Whether you're coaching a youth team or a high school team, the techniques and blocking rules in the manual apply at every level. Even college and NFL teams use the G-D-B scheme. I believe G-D-B is the best blocking scheme for sub-varsity football or varsity programs with linemen playing on both sides of the ball.
Inside the manual, you'll find:
* Detailed explanations of the Gap-Down-Backer technique, including step-by-step implementation instructions.
* Strategies for identifying defensive alignments and adjusting your offensive line accordingly.
* Drills to help your players master the necessary skills.
* Game film analysis and diagrams to illustrate key concepts in action.
* Tips and tricks, honed through over 40 years of coaching experience.
Coaches who have implemented the G-D-B scheme have had remarkable results on the field, with increased offensive production. Join the hundreds of coaches who have used the Gap-Down-Backer Offensive Line Manual, and like them, you'll have the tools to transform your offensive line into a force to be reckoned with.
If you are ready to elevate your team's performance, order the Gap-Down-Backer Offensive Line Manual from Football Talk with Coach Chip for only $30 today and start seeing results on game day. Your order will include paperback and e-book versions.

In episode 22 of season three, we talk with Coach Steve Montano, the man behind the Wing-T University (@WingTUniversity) account on X/Twitter.

Steve has collected WT resources from around the coaching world and put them online for coaches to use.
He plans on creating a website a WT library. He loves the grand old offense, and hopes to keep it alive with resources from Tubby Raymond, Forest Evashevski, and many other legendary WT coaches. He calls a properly executed Wing-T offense an "elegant nightmare" for defenses.

Watch Ball State's 25 when Northwestern's 10 loses a play card.
We experienced this years ago. From that point on, I started taping the cards to the wrist coach.

Dissecting the Power:
The first clip shows what happens when the Wrap isn't tight and vertical. Remember, the Wrapper does NOT have a man; the Down blocks create a gap that the Wrapper must fill. That gap is just outside the Rump Line. His tight path will take him to his block. BSG knew he messed up by chasing the PSLB.
The great Alex Gibbs was talking about Wide Zone when he said, "Never chase high linebackers," but I think it applies to gap scheme too.
The second shows what happens when the Wrap is tight and vertical, but the RB doesn't chase the Wrapper's inside leg. The RB bounces and allows the unblocked OSLB to make the play. Also, the RT should have climbed to the second level after he slammed the DT. This one should have hit right up the left hash.

Happy National Coaches Day to all of my fellow coaches.
It was established in 1972 when President Richard Nixon signed Proclamation 4157 after a joint resolution from Congress. We have observed it every October 6th since.
It was established to recognize the hard work, dedication, of sports and life coaches who focus on character development and teamwork rather than personal glory.
Coaches, share a picture of you in action.

Most of y’all already know this, but with what Northwestern has been doing I feel compelled to say it again:
The Wing-T is NOT a formation. It is an offensive system. Many call it an “order” of football.
The system has many formations, including the two you see here from Coach “The Delaware Wing-T: An Order of Football.”

Here is a recently released song called “Nobody Calls My Name” under the artist name MARSHEN. It is written entirely from the point of view of an offensive lineman—the player doing the work on every snap while the quarterback, running back, and receiver get their names called.
football song, but underneath it’s about the people whose work matters even when nobody notices them.

Ignore the skill guys; watch the RG. This is great posture for a kick-out block. He has a wide base, comes to balance, and is under control when he strikes the defender. The only thing I teach that he didn't do was work his right hip upfield, but I am being nitpicky.
Coach ached O-lines at every stop. His OL coach at Florida is Phil Trautwein, a former Gator lineman on Urban Meyer's two national championship teams.

To everyone saying they’ve taken hitting out of the game, tell that to this WR.
You can still blow people up, but you can’t do it with your head or to their head. Good clean hit by the SC DB.

Is your Buck Sweep getting blown up in the backfield, or are your pullers missing their blocks, or are they just not getting there? The Buck Sweep can be one of the most explosive plays in your offense, but when it breaks down, it breaks down fast. In this video, I give you two on Buck problems—and the coaching tweaks you need to fix them this week at practice.

If only there were a good opponent nearby who also needed to strengthen their schedule.
If the CFP truly values putting in the best 5 conference champs & then the next 7 best teams, Indiana should be left out if they are a 2 loss team finishing 10-2 or 11-2 (assumes they lose a Big 10 Championship). A lot of 9-3 BIG 10 or 9-3 SEC schools will have better resumes.
