Couldn’t have scripted the first game of my dream coaching job (OC @ my Alma Mater) any better
Can’t thank those enough who have helped me along the way … especially those on Football Twitter/X

For the air raid folk
Did Leach let the QB audible all the tags
… or did he force him to just find the back shoulders and what not

Leach once spent an ENTIRE practice running the same play.
Four Verticals.
The defense knew it was coming.
It didn’t matter.
He wanted one play they could execute when everyone knew it was coming.

It’s a crazy irony that on the eve of June Jones’ passing (RIP) that the NFL analytics X folk are talking about EPA of being a Pass heavy team
Just ask @stanbedwell
Just ask @stanbedwell
I do think at some point in the near future some team with a good QB will try passing 80-85% in neutral game states and there’s a good chance it will look obvious in retrospect.

June Jones always told me one of his favorite assistants to work with when he coached for the Oilers was “Nicky Martini” otherwise known as DBs coach Nick Saban in 1988-89 under Jerry Glanville. June said, “Nicky’s a hell of a coach and a strict disciplinarian. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a head coach someday.”

To those who’s season is still going maybe you pick something up from Coach’s golden era:
THE 06/07 Hawaii Run and Shoot 🧵
Going 23-4 and scoring 45 pts/gm, the June Jones era Hawaii Warriors were ahead of their time.
Thanks to @FilmHistoric I watched 700+ snaps of their explosive offense
So sit back, relax, crack open a coconut, and enjoy my breakdown:

We mourn the passing of the legendary June Jones.
June’s greatest legacy wasn’t the records, championships, or the offense.
It was the people he believed in, the opportunities he gave, and the lives he forever changed.

Rest in peace, June Jones.
A pioneer of Offensive Football.
The Run & Shoot fundamentally changed the way the Pass Game is taught. It gave QB’s & WR’s the freedom to adjust routes and find space.
I’ll never forget staying up until 2am EST watching his Hawaii teams score 60+
Legend.

The best Coaches in the country are taking a 2-8 roster and going 5-5 or 6-4, and no one is giving them the recognition for it!
Just know that others and I know that you're doing more with less!!

Somewhere tonight, a parent watched their son walk off a football field for the last time.
And for a moment, they probably saw the little boy who needed help buckling his chinstrap.
Those years go fast.
Thinking of the families taking that ride home tonight.
