If you want to homeschool or send your kids to a private school, you should absolutely be free to do that. But we should not be spending $1 Billion of taxpayer funds on that.
I am disappointed that vouchers are about to be ripped away from parents who just got them. School choice creates competition, and competition forces schools to make better decisions.
Additionally, I'm not sure what she meant by ending the STAAR test. States have to give a standardized test to receive federal funds under ESSA. Standardized tests are the only true measure of achievement since grades are meaningless. We can't just eliminate accountability.

That's a great question! I can tell you this, as a lifelong Republican, I actually voted for @GinaHinojosaTX for Governor. Abbott's destruction of public education was evident, and for me the final straw was the awful voucher scam he pushed off as "school choice"!
Has anyone asked @GregAbbott_TX tonight if taking a payout of $12 million dollars to brutally force school vouchers on rural Texans two years ago is working out for him?

This seems about right. I would add, I am not sure if the anti data center thing is about data centers full stop. I think its about metastasizing bloodsucking corporate infrastructure all over the landscape. I think people understand that we have infrastructure needs, but would be much more comfortable if they were treated as utilities with a public obligation rather than transparently obvious land/cash grabs by big tech.
Based on the past two election cycles, the median voter seems to have the following views:
-Woke 1.0 was crazy, no to woke 2.0
-Get big corporations out of politics
-End Iran War
-Hold Epstein associates accountable
-No to AI data centers
-Cost of living is untenable

The first two bills I will be filing this session are both by members who have ascended to higher callings.
Jon Rosenthal’s bill banning the practice of child marriage in Texas and James Talarico’s bill that would grant pregnant women the right to a divorce - because right now they cannot legally get divorced while pregnant, even if they are the victim of domestic violence.

1/ How’d we get here? It all starts 100% with vouchers. That’s when rural Texans began to wonder if statewide Republicans really had their best interests at heart. We can all point to that single issue and what the Governor did afterward to his long-time allies.

So... US... not to be negative, but other countries don't wait months for a new parliament or congress to come together, it happens immediately after the election, like minutes after. You should fix that nonsense because waiting opens you to a coup d'état and sabotage. Something to consider.

Remember the Alamo. They didn’t die so a bunch of Muslims could take over Texas. They didn’t die in vain.

I stopped by a local donut shop this morning. Owner asked me, “what are you hearing out there as you travel around Texas?”
I told him that in rural Texas all I hear and see is that no one likes Data Centers.
He shot back immediately, “only folks that like em are the ones building em and the folks who own em. It feels like they’re being forced down our throats in secret meetings.”
