Spot on Bear!
Sorry but the vast majority of private schools don’t admit sped kids, or kids with behavioral issues, or any kid that isn’t a good “fit” for their school.
80% of voucher recipients were already attending private schools.
Huge scam.
Reverse Robinhood.

Translation: my gravy train grift is being threatened….
The Gov-elect in TX wants to take away scholarships from 110,000 K-12 kids.

- 60% are LOW INCOME
- 17% are SPECIAL NEEDS

She’s about to hear from LOTS of moms and dads. Game on.

Truth Scott. We have a lot of so called "experts" suddenly chiming in on things they truly do not understand.
But they don't have to fund them.
It's not that hard to know what you're talking about before you say things.

Super, super proud of my grandson Skyler. Today at the Coahoma Pep Rally he was named the Defensive Player of the Game by both KBYG 106.3 and KBest Media for his performance against Grape Creek! Selected to wear the honorary “hard hat” for the 3rd time as well!

Amen! Josh hit it square on the nose- The voucher scam forced down our throats was the final straw for Abbott and his anti-public school cronies! Good riddance!
The largest voting block in Texas is public school teachers and when these people are pissed and motivated they will vote in protest! This was a protest vote in Texas don’t get it twisted…jmo

70% of the students receiving voucher funds were already enrolled in private schools. The voucher scam is a tax subsidy that undermines public education and provides little or no benefit to rural Texans.
Texas Governor-Elect Gina Hinojosa wastes no time taking dead aim at the incredible opportunities that students from a variety of different backgrounds have been able to enjoy with school choice freedom when their public school is not the best fit for them. So many of those schools and students in Texas are Catholic.

The Texas school district where Hinojosa was recently in leadership, Austin ISD, is on the verge of bankruptcy. That’s not a good track record for her. It looks like this is her top priority and what she will aim to kill (education freedom) very soon.

Great point!
@GGJo1 @steerstrong @teachthemx3 I think if you took school out of the equation and ask the voters would they be ok with public funds going to private business no questions asked, you get a resounding hell no.

The problem is the fact that their accountability system will never align with the STAAR accountability system, and thus ends their argument saying public schools are afraid of competition. Bring on the competition, we love it, but only on a level playing field.
@steerstrong @teachthemx3 Or have to release the accountability system they currently use. I just think any use of public funds has to be based on accountability

Amen- you hit the nail on the head! You choose to go to a private school, then you also choose to pay the tuition associated with that school.
@sig22cosux @1rstN10 @steerstrong @GinaHinojosaTX Nobody forced these families into private school. That was their choice. Now taxpayers get to subsidize it while 5.5 million public school kids attend schools that must serve everyone. Private schools can pick their students. Public schools can’t. Quite the definition of “choice”

That's a great question! I can tell you this, as a lifelong Republican, I actually voted for @GinaHinojosaTX for Governor. Abbott's destruction of public education was evident, and for me the final straw was the awful voucher scam he pushed off as "school choice"!
Has anyone asked @GregAbbott_TX tonight if taking a payout of $12 million dollars to brutally force school vouchers on rural Texans two years ago is working out for him?

Texas public educators will feel empowered by these results. The state level leaders who dismissed them in the voucher discussions the last 2 sessions are all out. The new Governor mentioned educators and education at the very beginning of her victory speech. But how remaining state Republican legislators view these results will also be a factor.

Truth!
For the uneducated, teacher unions in Texas are not unions. They are teacher organizations that offer advocacy, professional development, legal representation, & other member services. Tx Teachers cannot go on strike, be involved in collective bargaining agreements, etc.

Truth! Calling it "school choice" was simply a cover. We have always had school choice, but but we have not had is voucher scam set up to fund tuition to private schools! The same private schools that play by their own rules and are never held accountable. Good riddance Abbott!
Vouchers turned Texas voters against @GregAbbott_TX and the R’s.

Texans hate vouchers.
