This is happening all over the country, specifically in Lula supporting areas. Right-wing officials have turned off traffic lights, reduced bus and ferry services on voting day. Fights to the northeast, where turnout for Lula was crucial, have been suddenly canceled.

Atlantic County is a place to keep
an eye on the local government: GOP has a 8-1 edge in the county commission even though it’s a very tightly divider county!

3 GOP seats are up this year, so Dems can’t flip the board, but could narrow gap for future flip.
IN PERSON EARLY VOTE DAY 1: Atlantic County

# of Ballots cast by:

Republicans 825 -- 31%
Democrats 1392 -- 53%
Unaffiliated 368 -- 14%

Last year's day 1 was virtually same # of ballots, but very different, mirror image:

Rs 1311 -- 49%
Ds 906 -- 34%
Us 436 -- 16%

Startling stat — a police officer in a small Texas town handed arrested and handed over immigrants to ICE at such volume that the total number is the equivalent of 10% of his town's population.
nytimes.com/2026/10/25/mag…
This is a town of three stoplights, five gas stations, five Mexican restaurants, and five churches. It is — or was — 45% Latino.

Yet within a year of the flood, the town’s tiny PD had delivered the equivalent of 10% of Ingram to ICE.

EXCLUSIVE: Trump DOJ’s has repeatedly insisted it will not tell immigration judges how to rule, as required by law.

But after a demand from unidentified “higher-ups,” a veteran judge was ordered to reverse four rulings—then yanked from court mid-hearing.

County government fights I'm watching most closely:

Possible flip to Dems:
—Tarrant Co, TX
—Fort Bend Co, TX
—Hillsborough Co, FL
—Miami-Dade Co, FL
—Washoe Co, NV

Possible flip to GOP:
—Orange Co, CA
—Clark Co, WA
—Montgomery Co, OH

Currently tied!
—Will County, IL

Details:
Size of the 'blue wave' isn't just about how far Dems get in US House.

Hundreds of local offices could flip if Dems have a great night—AGs, county governments, utility commissions, school boards.

And a bonus: Deschutes County, in Oregon, is already sure to flip to Democratic aligned candidates based on the results of the primary.

Very interesting move: and note that the DA’s office that has been targeting Mason is on the ballot too. It’s Tarrant. boltsmag.org/prosecutor-and…

Predictive value limited, Republicans could come out en masse Election Day, behaviors may have changed, & other important hedges. It’s just that I wouldn’t have believed it a week ago that Florida Dems would still have overall edge in raw turnout after 6 days of in-person voting.

There’ll finally be more Republicans who have voted than Dems in the next day or two. (Dems are barely clinging to that now.) I’ll be watching if Dems can continue to grow their advantage in each party’s turnout rate (Dems is 6.5 points better right now) thru end of early voting.

3 Republican legislators in seats won by Kamala Harris are unopposed. Rep. Tracy Marra in Harris +22, HD-141, Rep. Christine Carpino in Harris +8, HD-32, and Rep. Jason Buchsbaum in Harris +3, HD-69.

Carpino notably has been unopposed in 3 of the last 4 cycles.
State Rep. Tracy Marra (R-Darien) is running unopposed in HD-141, the bluest seat in the state held by a Republican legislator.

Marra won by 16 points in 2024, despite Kamala Harris winning her seat by a large 61-38 margin, the largest overperformance of any legislator in 2024.
