The "design engineer" archetype in intelligence era needs be someone much further-reaching on both ends.
Beyond DESIGN,
a keener social intuition, a rich visual + tonal vernacular, broadly read, a deep understanding of people. They need to be deeply-feeling themselves, and not ombies.' They need an investigative & suspended disbelief, but also a discernment and sanity to prevent psychosis. Far beyond just buttons + sliders. Much closer to a novelist or anthropologist.
Beyond ENGINEER,
a deep-seated intuition of machine intelligence: how they traverse latent space, what they can / cannot do well. A scientific approach to prodding this 'grown-not-built' intelligence. Far beyond just CRUD apps. Practically: ability to fine-tune + benchmark models, among other skills, to bridge machine intelligence to the more design/humanistic.
FWIW: all this is very good for a field — software design — that has recently (and rightfully) become the butt of jokes, and seen as a very unserious discipline

omg instinct is completely changing my social life. i didn’t realize how much of my scheduling avoidance was decision fatigue. i just tell it all of the factors i’m considering in making plans (location, dietary, time of day, etc) and it just figures it out for me :’)

i've been a bit quiet - working on a new companion skill that will help your agents draw these beautiful statecharts/diagrams + check them against the specs you made with /create-formal-verification-skill in pstack!
it now uses Pele from @kepano too which is why they look so on!

there's something really cool about asking your agent to draw a statechart (hypothetical example in this image), then using the /create-formal-verification-skill you made with pstack to find bugs through something like TLA+. you can both understand your code better and how the and fix issues users would otherwise see

helping @bdguan bring God to non-believers. (incredible branding challenge tbh)
haven't enjoyed design this much in a minute. Became a Christian not that long ago. Didn't expect to get a chance to flex that muscle. As a survivor of '90s youth group culture... I get it now. This is correct.

Bad idea 👉nautil.us/creating-fake-…
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

Remember when I said I was building a generational team for a generational company?
I’ve joined @trybasis to grow the Labs team alongside @mitch_troy, @falcone_design, and @simoncorry, where we're exploring what emerging technologies could become and how they might change the way we work, make, and live.
