We wrote up a blog post about all the hard work and hard tech that went into making Highlights.

- Highlights uses actual language ASTs to highlight rather than regex
- It is often hundreds of times faster than Shiki in language-to-language comparisons while also using much less er 70 languages
- It's a drop-in replacement for Shiki when your environment supports wasm and simd

Today we're launching an exciting new project: Highlights

Highlights is a syntax highlighter that outputs HTML. It improves on both speed and correctness compared to the existing industry standard libraries.

It's an optional drop-in replacement in Diffs, and it's ready to use ready powering diffshub․com!

Check it out at diffs.com/highlights
OR `pnpm install @pierre/highlights`

Did you know that you can use the file icon set from trees.software in your editor? @mdo put together a visually cohesive and theme-able set for you. Single color or duotone.

In the newest version of diffs.com/edit

- Edit mode is now stable
- Tab completions are live

It's called "Diffs," but you can use it just to show or edit single code files as well.

We're betting on git as the state primitive in sandboxes.

Resuming a new sandbox from your last state is easy with code storage ephemeral branches. We're gonna continue to work on making this as fast as spinning up a sandbox.

Code Storage has automatic Hot and Cold storage.

There's a lot more code these days that's used for only a short time and then forgotten about.

Hot storage is optimized for low-latency reads & writes. Cold storage is for inactive code, optimized for durability at lower cost.

If you’re already spinning up sandboxes for individual tasks, there’s a good chance these 8 lines could be pretty helpful to you!

Did y’all know that Poke uses Code Storage for more than just storing code?

Every Poke interaction has its agent memory stored in git.

Give your agents a more powerful understanding of what’s *changing* at any scale, without sacrificing speed.

At peak, Lovable creates 250 new repos per second on code.storage.

Simultaneously they improved fetch latency 230% from a more purely object storage solution.

If you’re a product builder and it’s scale and speed that you’re after, signups are now open.

Diffs you can edit!

Edit mode is now in beta on diffs[dot]com, and we want your help to perfect it.

We’re running an online hackathon this week. Build something with diffs, and show us what the new edit mode can do. Post your entry in the comments by 5pm PT on Monday August sive Pierre Computer Company merch.
