Ed Dowd: The AI Bubble & $3 Trillion Private Credit Crisis — Is the Party Ending?

I sat down with @DowdEdward, former BlackRock portfolio manager, founding partner of Phinance Technologies, and bestselling author of Cause Unknown: The Epidemic of Sudden Deaths in 2021 & 2022.

DrawingStreet experience, including the dot-com bubble and the 2008 financial crisis, Ed explains why he sees alarming similarities between today's AI investment boom and previous speculative bubbles.

We explore the nearly $3 trillion private credit market, the growing reliance on debt to finance AI infrastructure, Nvidia's vendor financing arrangements, and warning signs emerging from companies like CoreWeave. Could the unraveling of the AI financing boom trigger a much larger financial crisis?

Ed also explains why he anticipates a deflationary crisis followed by massive Federal Reserve money printing, potentially setting the stage for another wave of inflation.

Later, we discuss his bestselling book Cause Unknown, his research into excess mortality, disability, cancer trends, and declining fertility rates in the wake of COVID-19, as well as his concerns about vaccine safety and the importance of individual freedom in an increasingly centralized world.

A free society lets people leave without a ransom.

If the state is worth staying in, people will stay, and if it isn't, the answer is to fix the state rather than lock the door.
JUST IN: ITALY EXIT TAX

🇮🇹 Italy proposes a 26% exit tax on unrealized investment gains for people leaving the country from 2027.

It’d apply to those with €800k+ in relevant assets who were tax residents for at least 6 of the last 10 years.

I've been warning you: European and will try to seize your assets.

The exit is closing.

David Friedberg: France’s Crisis Is a Warning for America

“France is a bellwether for the West.

So take a look at this chart. This chart is a measure of public spending as a percent of GDP.

And you can see the comparison of France's public spending as a % of GDP to the peak of GDP of major communist nations.”

@Chamath:

“So do you think France is a communist state? They spend like it.”

@Jason:

“Well, it's certainly been a socialist state, right?”

Chamath:

“Is it working?”

@Friedberg:

“That's my point. And I think this is such a prescient lesson for the West to look at.

We all think that there's some political problem with Macron or whoever it was.

The more the government spends, the worse the conditions get for its people, not the opposite, and then the people riot and revolt.

Take a guess where the US is today. US public spending is roughly 36% of GDP. France today is operating its national government spending deficit is 5.4% of GDP. The US is actually 6.2% of GDP.

France is, I think, probably the first to go because they're only growing their economy at half a percent while the US is growing at 2.3%.

So we're still kind of hanging on because we have some degree of economic growth that's allowing us to kind of hold things together.

But I would argue that we are facing the same sort of fiscal cliff which leads to this extraordinary social unrest as France.

All the economic measures are aligned, we're at the same rate, we're at the same set of problems, and we're starting to see the cracks in the system.

There's probably a multi-year solution.”

Former BlackRock fund manager Ed Dowd on the Covid-jab "scandal," including 500,000 excess deaths in 2021 in the U.S., disabilities, and "turbo cancers"☠️🇺🇸

"shouldn't the health authorities be monitoring these signals?"

"this is a scandal that's living with us right now"
ine rollout, everything changed. That's when disabilities took off... In February of '21, they just took off, especially amongst those who are employed"

"[in] 2021, another 500,000 Americans died [following 500,000 excess deaths in 2020], but there was a mix shift from old to young. All of a sudden, young people started croaking"

"did the virus decide to morph into an age-specific virus? Nope, that's not how the world works. So it really was all about the vaccine"

"and cancers in that age group [25 to 45 years old], except for colon cancer... [were] on the decline. Then in 2021, they all inflected... and every kind of cancer jumped"

"it was like [a] 10 to 12–standard deviation change from trend. Which, for your audience... [is] a signal"

"[a] 3.4–standard deviation represents the chance of you individually getting hit by lightning at least once in your lifetime. So it's not supposed to happen. So when you see [a 12–standard deviation trend change], it's... a signal"

Anthropic S-1 for IPO is out absent Q3 data. Growth investors might like to see those numbers. Trust me if they were good they would be in the filing. Don’t believe any excuses offered. Major red flag.

Below is the case why they likely weren’t included.
“The truth, which Anthropic didn’t want to emphasize in the S-1, is that Q2, right at the height of tokenmaxxing was fantastic, but Q3, post tokenmaxxing and after the rise of low cost alternative models, represented a slowing of their growth.” 👇🏼

No one should be surprised by this. Not because Bolsonaro would be better for business, though he may be, but because this type of blatant election stealing is NOT the hallmark of an emergent first world country

Investors understand this and move their money accordingly

Brazil cannot ignore the rule of law like this and be expected to be treated like grownups.
Brazilian markets are in TOTAL FREEFALL after socialist Lula’s victory.
Stocks tanking 15%, the currency collapsing, and pure financial panic.
This is what happens EVERY single time the radical left takes power: total economic ruin.
Socialism destroys everything it touches! 🇧🇷🚨

The Coming Treasury Crisis Will Send Gold & Silver SOARING

Dr. Jim Willie returns to Free The Money to discuss why he believes the wars in Ukraine and Iran are interconnected parts of a much larger global conflict, with energy supplies and shifting geopolitical alliances playing a crclaims of a potential Trump-Putin agreement involving Russian diesel shipments, an end to the Ukraine war, and Russia's possible role in resolving the conflict with Iran. Jim also examines Europe's continued dependence on Russian oil and gas despite sanctions and its support for Ukraine.

Against this backdrop, Jim warns of mounting pressure on the U.S. Treasury market, the unwinding of the yen carry trade, and a potential global liquidity crisis. He explains why he expects accelerating debt monetization to drive gold and silver prices higher and discusses XRP's potential role in the evolving financial system.

“Let them die.” 👀

@edzitron argues that OpenAI and Anthropic have become so “load-bearing” to the stock market that their failure could have far-reaching consequences. With record stock ownership, Bloomberg’s @EricBalchunas has raised the possibility of government bailouts, as nce. But Ed argues that even a bailout won't save the AI boom if GPU sales can't keep growing.

Too big to fail or too big to save..?

The banks didn't eliminate the risk. They just moved it somewhere else. 👀

Former BlackRock portfolio manager @DowdEdward breaks down the nearly $3 TRILLION private credit market, where risky lending has increasingly shifted outside traditional banks, exposing pension funds, gh-net-worth individuals, and asset managers to risky loans.

Dowd also cites a Morgan Stanley estimate that 50% of AI financing in 2025 came from private credit.

With the industry already facing mounting pressure, what happens if the AI boom doesn't deliver the returns investors are expecting?
