Right now my favorite way to talk with my agents is through iMessage.
Claude code, Hermes, codex -----> all setup to talk via text.
It's so simple and doesn't rely on me having a remote session or anything. I'll often talk to my agents via a terminal app on my iPhone but there is this one dead zone on my morning walks that kills the connection. iMessage just works.
Setting it up is relatively easy.
- Use photon
- Hermes has a built in way to connect
- Claude Code and other terminal-based harnesses will need a bridge that you can have your agent put together pretty quick.

@NetworkChuck but how do you manage sessions and worktrees etc from iMessage? doesn't it get messy?

@NetworkChuck That dead zone on the morning walk was the last place the agents couldn't reach you

@NetworkChuck I refuse to use iMessage to connect to Hermes.
Once I found out that iMessage or discord or telegram whatever, each are their own independent session, I realized it wasn’t really of use to me.

@NetworkChuck does the bridge only take orders from your number or anyone who texts it

@NetworkChuck Been my favorite for months.
My agent has its own Apple ID and it’s so handy. “Hey Siri, send a text to Botsy saying…”
Work gets done.

@NetworkChuck Any detailed videos coming on setting up & using grok bot in some compelling use cases?

@NetworkChuck Yeah I prefer talking directly to the folders. No orchestration for the diff projects.
iMessages just doesn’t work for looking at code or architecture, and if the answer is creating a webpage.. then I don’t need iMessage at all.

@NetworkChuck Wait, Claude Code via iMessage? I definitely need to check that out.

@NetworkChuck the morning walk dead zone is so real lol. text is such an underrated agent interface, it just waits for you instead of you babysitting a session

@NetworkChuck yeah that's where it got messy for us. we ended up building a phone app where each agent session is its own thread, running on your own computer. so you're not juggling everything in one chat (mirasim, if you're curious)

@NetworkChuck on the phone i make mine keep answers to around 200 chars, otherwise i scroll forever 🙂

@NetworkChuck Is each agent its own contact, or one thread where you say who it's for?

@NetworkChuck Do they text you back when a task is done, or do you still have to check in?

@NetworkChuck texting your agents like coworkers is the most 2026 sentence i've read
the day one of them leaves you on read we're in trouble 😂

@NetworkChuck Dead zones are the whole problem on the road. A live terminal session drops the second you lose signal, but a text just sits there and goes through once you're back in range. Just went from iPhone to Pixel though, so iMessage is out for me. Need the Android version of this.

@NetworkChuck texting my agents feels weirdly normal now. the blue bubble is the least scary terminal i own

@NetworkChuck Same itch. I talk to my agents through a chat bot more than a terminal these days. I don't want to find myself in dead-zone walk path.

@NetworkChuck texting the agent is weirdly the best ui. only thing i'd want is a hard yes/no step before it touches anything destructive, a typo over sms is scary

@NetworkChuck This can't be better then Telegram or Slack. No table support, no approval UI. No MD rendering. Just imessage.

@NetworkChuck the remote session is where I got stuck too. when I tested T3 Code's phone app this week, it never connected to my Mac. with iMessage, does the Mac still have to stay awake, or do your texts wait until it wakes up?

@NetworkChuck worth locking the bridge to your own number only, otherwise anyone who texts that thread can run commands on your machine. does an approval step for risky stuff like deletes work over text too?

@NetworkChuck Texting your agents is cool. I just talk to mine. "Charlotte" wakes my local Qwen voice assistant on my own GPU, from my desk, phone or watch, and she's got a crew of 10 AI bots behind her who send her signed messages. No cloud, no dead zones in my house. 🤘

@NetworkChuck I get you. Telegram - Hermes works beautifully. For the rest I am using Heeler on my phone to connect to Herdr.

@NetworkChuck give it a week and claude code starts double texting when you leave it on read

@NetworkChuck Texting works well for starting a task. The part that fits worse is approvals, a yes or no on one command is faster as a tap than typing it back

@NetworkChuck I keep preferring Telegram because I can organize my sessions in themes helping me to keep track of what I was doing the last time we talked about a given feature, app, or task.

@NetworkChuck the part I would lock down is what a text is allowed to trigger, anyone who gets into that thread can run commands on your machine
