If you can understand and evaluate everything the AI produces, then sure, why not? But it's nowhere near as simple as it sounds.

There's already plenty of information online, including entire open-source game engines you can study.

The real challenge is making everything work together across different platforms. Even with AI, there are thousands of technical problems to solve before you have a stable, production-ready game engine.

I think the stigma around AI needs to change. It won't be a painless process, but as more high quality games made with AI come out, people will gradually stop caring whether AI was used.

I'm using AI for coding in my own game too. I've written about 50% of the code myself, and AI builds on top of it. The results have been excellent.

I wish I could share what I've been working on, but we all know what can happen when games are shown before they're ready.

There's a galaxy of difference between vibe coding with a solid understanding of how a game engine should work and knowing absolutely nothing about game engines and simply telling AI, "Build me a game engine."

Getting a prototype to work is one thing. Building and maintaining a production-ready game engine is something entirely different.

@BohuslavskaKate I've noticed the same whenever I reply to Elon about Ukraine. Funny enough, none of my other replies seem to have the same reach problem.

You blame Ukraine for refusing to surrender. With all your money and influence, you still don't have the balls to tell Russia to get the fuck out of Ukraine and end this war.

Instead, you restricted Starlink for a country defending itself while Russia continues killing civilians, including children.

So tell me, who are the bloodthirsty warmongers? Those constantly attacking civilians and cities, or those defending their people?

Because last time I checked, it was Russian tanks and troops on the territory of a sovereign nation, trying to seize land they have no right to.

I understand the B2B distinction, but I don’t see Steam’s AI disclosure as a political statement. Players should be able to make informed choices, and creators shouldn’t be harassed for using AI.

I use AI in my own projects and try to be open about it. The more people see high-quality work made with AI, the easier it becomes to challenge the “AI slop” stigma. To me, the underlying problem is that stigma and the harassment it fuels. I think we can push back against both while still supporting transparency.

@elshayib_ Okay, this document explains why we've been seeing such ridiculous promotions. The guy just swapped out a , metahuman character in Epic's pre made scene and claimed Kimi created it. Once he was exposed, he had to delete the post.

Valve also uses AI disclosures in pre-release reviews, including checks for illegal or infringing content. So Steam’s disclosure requirement also serves a legal and contractual purpose. Explaining how AI is used in a game is product information, not a political statement.

I support disclosure because I want people to see what can actually be made with AI. Just as we don’t feel the need to hide using a calculator, we shouldn’t feel the need to hide using AI.

If we want to push back against the idea that everything made with AI is “slop,” skilled creators need to openly share their work and how they made it, so everyone can learn. Hiding AI’s role in good work won’t help change that perception.

@TimSweeneyEpic @Filmbot If Steam removes its AI disclosure requirement, will you remove Fab's too ? Or will yours stay?

Fab can even remove listings when publishers intentionally mislabel AI generated content.

@TimSweeneyEpic @mattworkman Tim, your own marketplace, Fab, requires AI disclosure too. Why is it transparency on your platform but a “political statement” on Steam?

@skibidiwap69 @TimSweeneyEpic @mattworkman That actually reinforces my point. Fab requires AI disclosure so developers can make informed decisions. Steam requires it so consumers can make informed decisions. Why is one considered transparency while the other is suddenly a “political statement”?

@Tinywolfy1231 @Pirat_Nation I've shared examples on my profile that challenge the whole “AI slop” narrative. It's not about whether you use AI, but how well you use it.

I just don't understand why Tim attacks Steam over AI disclosure when his own marketplace, Fab, requires it too.

I like Tim Sweeney, but lately he seems increasingly out of touch with his own company's products and policies.

Your own marketplace, Fab, requires creators to disclose AI-generated assets. Why is that transparency acceptable when developers buy assets, but suddenly “abhorrent” when consumers buy games?
