If you believe that mindless AI evaluations are legitimate then why would you spread the evaluation of Saez & @gabriel_zucman without first subjecting it to its own mindless AI evaluation?

I just did and it turns out the critic's errors all go in one direction.

Three months of articles on how El-Sayed still needs to consolidate Jewish voters, so naturally it’s time to send in the GOP’s closer
Moreno says El-Sayed can’t be a senator because he doesn’t understand that Jesus came here for our salvation.

@EricLevitz @superwuster Yes of course. My point is there’s a reason (anti-Asian racism) the fancy private high schools don’t run purely meritocratic admissions.

The butthurt handling of this primary defeat by Haley Stevens and now her fiance after they had tens of millions in outside money spent on her behalf is appalling. The next SecDef or a Trump SCOTUS judge is on the line here! Totally pathetic & reveals that the loss was deserved

Simply astonishing level of open racism in the final days of the campaign.
Sen. @tedcruz (R-TX) says that if U.S. Sen. candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) is elected into the Senate and is placed in the Senate Intelligence Committee, "there is a very real risk that Americans will die as a result."

It's also incredibly disturbing that Flavio describes himself as the "true president-elect of Brazil."

Giorgia Meloni, Nayib Bukele, Keiko Fujimori, and Abelardo de la Espriella have all acknowledged Lula's victory.

Is it the United States government's position that Flavio won?
"Charles de Gaulle led Free France from London, condemned to death by the Vichy regime, and returned to liberate his country."

You've got to be kidding me with comparison, Flavio. 🙄

More background on Vivek’s guy
Amy Acton's stepfather's surviving biological daughter spoke to The Daily Mail when they knocked on her door in Ohio, while sobbing.

She said: She believed Amy's story, because her father raped her sister more than once (the victim in this 1974 indictment); she remembered Amy nna and Cledith; it's been terrible for her family to see Vivek's ad run in Ohio; and she heard rumors her father had victimized even more young girls.

One Portland activist, Eva Hamer, is responsible for foie gras ban proposals in both DC and Denver. She once favored direct action — she previously faced federal charges for raiding a dog-breeding facility — but she found a better tactic: ballot measures.

Parole is back!
Yep, zero release is OVER: Brazilian outlets, citing US customs/immigration records (which I presume are the I-94s), report that Flávio Bolsonaro, his wife Fernanda, and their two daughters were paroled in "DT", meaning they were found inadmissible but granted humanitarian parole under INA § 212(d)(5) which is a discretionary determination by CBP/DHS which allows them to "parole" the person in the US and out of custody for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit. It generally authorizes a parole status for of up to one year.

With a parole he can now proceed to file an affirmative asylum application and of course it should be referred to EOIR without an interview coz those are the rules 🤪

Actually, not being able to afford a house or qualify for a mortgage should absolutely put owning a home out of reach. Those are load-bearing requirements!
I know how hard Philadelphians work to provide for their families, and I want more of them to have a real shot at owning a home. Your income or credit score shouldn't put that dream out of reach! 🏡

One reason education administrators should avoid AI writing is that when they get caught, they then need to dig deeper into outright lies like "AI detectors don't work" and "I wrote a draft and just used AI for grammar."

The truth in most of these cases is that they and their offices think AI writing is helpful and efficient and fine (it's just like ghostwriting), but they realize that is untenable as a public opinion because it undermines their mission to teach students that writing skills actually matter for something.

But once you start lying about something, it's hard to stop, and getting caught in your lies kind of undermines your educational mission.
Pangram also flags the 2 speeches posted to Mack's "official correspondence" as majority-AI.

The state's controversial new high school science standards? 32% AI.

Here's DOE's response as well. The take on detectors contrasts w/what 3 professors in the space told us.

@captgouda24 I’ve been disappointed by this. I had hoped economists would work on how AI will change the world. Failing which I had hoped we’d at least use AI to find new and unorthodox ways of answering old questions. But alas…

Trump establishes a cult of personality, goes senile, becomes gay, and now Republicans all have to become gay too.

Maybe it was always going to end up like this.
Senate Majority @LeaderJohnThune (R-SD) calls Sen Bernie Moreno (R-OH) "eye candy" in response to the attention Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) has been receiving: "They both got it going on when it comes to that."

Great statement and position by our presumptive mayor. Glad to see this. If the goal is to attract top talent by raising pay, that should have happened long ago, pre-primary.
"Families in this city are stretched on childcare, housing and their utility bills, and I am not going to ask them to pay more for the job of the mayor. My focus is on lowering costs for the hard-working people of D.C.," Lewis George said in a statement.

So the US is going to parole someone here to claim ASYLUM!? Gotta love it
Flávio Bolsonaro has reportedly fled Brazil. He plans to claim political asylum when he lands in the U.S. He's most likely headed to Miami, where far-right figures from Latin America love to go because they have support.

DC voters are deciding on a ballot initiative next week that would ban the production and sale of foie gras in the city.

Whatever your views on the substance, there’s no denying that the underlying campaign, like those behind other recent ballot initiatives, is dominated by outside interest groups. These groups see DC's media market, progressive voter base and small size as the perfect combination for publicity and fundraising. Meanwhile, actual residents are left grappling with the fallout from often-poorly drafted legislation.

In today's Capital Commonsense, I explore the data and history of DC's ballot initiative process, review how other recent ballot initiatives have fared (most have needed serious clean-up after the fact), and propose some reforms that could improve the process and ensure the system serves DC residents ahead of outside interest groups.
