This is basically the right’s version of hateful far left people who alienate the rest of their party because they don’t conform to 100% of their world views

America is not a far-left or far-right country.
We are a moderate country of people who largely want the same things:
Safer streets.
Better schools.
Healthier environment.
Stronger economy.
Opportunity for everyone.
Focusing on problems within our own borders.
No culture wars.

This seems… reasonable? Encouraging to see some pragmatism here. Let the builders build, let the people benefit.
The governor-elect of Texas, Gina Hinojosa, has explicitly said that all currently permitted datacenters in Texas will be allowed to finish construction. This essentially covers all of the 2027 and likely well into 2028.
She is going to pass laws that ensure that all *newly* permitted datacenters going forward for delivery in 2028/2029 will pay taxes, commit to no increase in power prices for consumers, don’t impact water availability for people, be constructed with union labor and give “Texans a seat at the table.”
Sounds reasonable. She doesn’t want to lose a lot of good blue collar jobs and property taxes for small towns in rural Texas.
Datacenter commentary starts at 6:30 in this interview.
Also attaching her official campaign position from her website in the next post.
Sidenote: After watching a bunch of her speeches and interviews, I do think she is a political talent and probably has a future in national politics.

if people want actual abundance we need to reindustrialize even faster. we need a hundred anthropic wet labs for manufacturing, but on a grand scale. the economy must shift towards becoming a replicator.
I am glad to see Trump soundly rebuked, I just wish the Democrats could let go of industrial age thinking and embrace a future of abundance (instead of sliding into left populism).

I gotta' say, the memes I'm seeing from the moderates/right on the election results are a lot funnier and more good natured than when similar happened last election cycle from the other side.

EMTs remain woefully underpaid. I was paid $16/hr as a rescue paramedic with a bachelor’s in emergency medicine.
Seeing so many tragedies on social media and how we are not designed for that reminds me of EMTs and priests. Their entire days is spend counseling the grieving. EMTs woefully underpaid. When I found out their hourly wage, I did not believe it.

Two years after selling @FlyAerodome to @flocksafety, I’m leaving it in good hands.
Thanks to Flock, drones provide air support for 911 calls around the country.
Next, I'm joining @a16z as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. There has never been a better time to build for America 🧵
