I was one of the only people on this site to tell the truth about Eddie Gallagher. How many finger wagers in conservative media can say this? None. They all cucked out.
@Cernovich Iraq too. If you didn't understand the Gallagher trial, it makes a lot more send when you understand what our Iraqi "allies" in the ERD did to young boys.

Oh.
@60Minutes NOT a Texas father!

He is an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Mali with a final order of removal from a judge, who said he’s homosexual in order to dodge deportation - despite having a wife and two kids at home.

Wonder why @60Minutes didn’t ask him about that.

We must not allow another election to be stolen in Brazil.
🚨 BREAKING: Conservative Flávio Bolsonaro is REFUSING to concede Brazil's Presidential election, saying he'll file to ANNUL the results

"I will NOT accept that the rules were changed mid-game ONCE AGAIN by Lula's FRIENDS on the Supreme Court."

He's blasting the Supreme Court ting by HOURS -- who also happened to be Lula's former PERSONAL LAWYER

"It's IMPOSSIBLE to recognize the elections in the context in which these things happened."

Yep. Too many entrepreneurs think you have to reinvest it all. Total folly to not max out retirement accounts during the ride.
@Cernovich A lot of people knock using Roth 401(k), defined benefit pension plans, etc. "You can't touch it until you're 59.5" True, But creditors can't touch it at all.

Do you take the outside money or LOC to scale? Personal guarantee? Give up equity? One supplier sends bad goods and then lawsuits hit, maybe you luck out and it doesn’t hit liftoff on social media, then you really have a problem. But whatever. Tomorrow isn’t promised for anyone.
One of the more shocking revelations I've had as an adult is how much of society, companies we shop, and people we look up to are always ~2 bad moves away from going bust.

Just an entire system of people betting the entire farm every single day, behind a veneer of stability.

2024 showed only Trump is Trump. The GOP was dead before he saved them in 2016. In 2020 the GOP outperformed but somehow Trump lost. 2024 was a generational coalition. And now 2026?
The new NYT report states that over a quarter of black men 44 and under voted for Trump.

World shifts happening.
It's been reported by the Telegraph that Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israel to support Argentina on the Falklands over Britain.

Why should Britain be expected to defend Israel's national interests if Israel's leadership refuses to respect ours?

Britain is not obliged to give any foreign government unconditional political or military support.

Our foreign policy should be guided by British interests, and British interests only - that is the Restore Britain position.

The Falkland Islands are British, and will remain British.

# Black October

For anyone who knows me even somewhat well, it's clear that I am a 99th percentile tech optimist. However, the vibes have shifted for me quite a bit in the last 18 hours, and I feel a moral imperative to share what I'm thinking and feeling with my circles so that everyone can understand, and hopefully take seriously, what's happening right now. I think October 2026 will have many chapters written about it in the history books.

You know those scenes in financial movies like Margin Call where someone realizes that they're all fucked, and no one else sees it yet? And that person feels like they're crazy, and then suddenly everyone is pulling an all-nighter in a boardroom and freaking out? Yeah, that's kind of how this is feeling right now in the SF/Bay Area/AI circles.

We're 48 hours into what is being called Black October. In the last 2 days there have been several dozen cyber attacks which, in isolation, would each have been the worst to happen in an entire calendar year. Every sector from government to education to big tech and banks is being massively affected, and people are starting to freak out.

In a nutshell, what's happened is that frontier AI models have gotten to a point where they are as advanced as the most sophisticated programmers, with one critical difference: they can work 24/7, and you can spin up 10,000 of them with a single command and they'll work together tirelessly until they accomplish their task. The most advanced models today are from companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, whose current best technology is so good that they haven't been able to roll it out to everyone yet because of the national security risks it poses.

Meanwhile, the best open source models (where anyone can just download the model weights and do whatever they want with them, uncensored) are slightly behind the frontier but still 90-95% as capable. These models, developed primarily in China, are being used by black hat hackers to wreak havoc on the Western capitalist structure. Presumably, this has been part of China's plan the entire time, and we're seeing its implications fall out in real time.

In red-pilled AI circles, we've been sharing and reading papers called things like "Situational Awareness" and "AI 2027" for the last year or so, which at the time felt a bit like near-term speculative fiction. They laid out the case for why Artificial General Intelligence (AI smarter than any human at any knowledge task) and Recursive Self-Improvement (models that are able to use themselves to get better) weren't half-baked future ideas anymore, but instead an inevitable outcome of the linear progress that's happening.

These papers would then talk about things like "takeoff scenarios," trying to envision how that moment would come to be and what it would be like when it happened. It would either be a "slow takeoff" that would play out over the course of months and quarters, happening subtly and only obvious to a few. Or, it would be a "fast takeoff" where it would pretty much happen instantly, like a bit flipping from 0 to 1.

From everything that I can see and am feeling, we are currently experiencing the fast takeoff scenario. Beyond the crazy security vulnerabilities that have come out recently, there have also been massive breakthroughs in life sciences, fundamental computer science, materials science, and pure mathematics that have all landed in the same time frame. While I still firmly believe that AI will be a net positive for humanity, it's more clear to me than ever that the societal and individual risk is very real, and is playing out NOW.

For as much conviction as I have that this is happening, the thing that's caused me to lose sleep is that I don't really know what to do about it, or more importantly, what to tell you, reader, to do about it. So, the best I can do is make a few suggestions that have always been a good idea but are more timely now than ever:

Set up 2-factor authentication for everything. I use Duo.
Use a password manager across your devices. I use 1Password.
Get an identity protection app set up. I use Alta.
Move your IoT devices to their own network. Claude helped me do this.

And last, but certainly not least, if you've been avoiding leaning into AI, see this as a catalyst to wake up and start using it. Don't just use the chat mode version of ChatGPT/Claude; click that Code/Work button and see how easily you can have AI write code to help you with your job. One of the biggest vulnerabilities was in a massively popular programming language called PHP, and the prompt that set it off was literally, "Find vulnerabilities in php."

This is an unprecedented time for humanity, but as we've done with many things before, we will prevail so long as we are kind, loving, and open-minded to the world.

Much love.

Pins and needles.
As I published earlier today: Netanyahu begged Trump for more public support ahead of the elections. Trump agreed and put out a second Truth Social post. This happens amid constant efforts by Netanyahu to move forward with a strike against Iran ahead of the elections

Well said.
"The internet is on fire with criticism of the 12 bishops who prayed over President Trump in the Oval Office.

Let me remind everyone that bishops are priests and pastors and should not have to apologize for praying over presidents. This assault on public prayer is based on a not the essential evangelization required by the Gospel.

Not only should we give them the space to be evaluated outside the secular political lens, they should give that grace to themselves in the face of this unwarranted criticism.

“As I prayed about, I thought that this is what Catholics do. We pray for people,” said Archbishop James Golka. “No matter whether we agree or disagree on anything, we always pray for our country and leaders.”

Imagine the church restricting who it could dialogue with or preach to: it would be a a history without Ambrose preaching to Theodosius; without John Paul II converting General Wojciech Jaruzelski on his death bed; without Fr. Hugh O’Flaherty befriending Nazi Herbert Kappler in prison.

The right and duty to witness to figures in authority dates back to the time of Caesar.

Those men all did many things worse by orders of magnitude than this leader, who has also done some things exceptionally well, whatever the honest criticism of some of his policies are.

I also question the selective outrage potentially at work here. Do honest Catholics believe this outrage would exist for praying over Obama, Biden, or even George W.?

These men were there as priests and they prayed as priests do. That is a win for the faith, no matter the man in the presidential chair.

Archbishop Golka was right. This IS what Catholics do."

Interesting debate in the replies and quotes.
I said I wasn’t going to weigh in on who should be prime minister of Israel as that is a decision for Israeli citizens. I did, however, want to share one point of view from the perspective of someone who has an understanding of how Israel is perceived in America.

Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have caused Israel enormous reputational damage with their statements and actions which are presented in the global media as representing the voice and will of all Israelis.

As such, a government formed without Ben-Gvir and Smotrich will send a message to the rest of the world that Israel is turning a new page.

This will allow Israel to rebuild lost credibility, increase the opportunity for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and enjoy a better relationship with Democrats and Republicans and Americans at large.

This week will be one for the books.

When you consider George W. Bush inherited a budget surplus from the good 90s economy, then used 9/11 to start 20 year wars while doing tax cuts, then bailed out the banks that gave us the 2008 financial crisis…the excitement makes some sense in hindsight.

But Obama just decided to sell out and get rich. His main legislative ‘achievement’ is healthcare premiums that are bankrupting the middle class. He squandered the chance to be a transformative POTUS to live on Martha’s Vinyard with Netflix $$.
I can’t believe we ever got excited about ‘Barack Obama.’

I think about it and it just fills me with embarrassment and shame.

Scott Adams law of slow moving disasters applies, but will be some painful short term shocks. Have some cash on hand too, with some small bills.
The AI cyber apocalypse is a real thing that will affect all of us.

People we work with in the intel community have told us for months they expect an AI-triggered crisis. The UK just told people to prep 3 days of food & water. Now this.

Brushing this off as hype is so insane.
