Do you want to win defense contracts like @anduriltech does? Partnering with @DiracInc can help.
.“One of the most unexpected outcomes of working with Dirac: it’s accelerated our sales.” — Matt Grimm, Cofounder & COO, @AndurilTech
Anduril is now pitching Dirac directly to the Navy & Air Force as part of how modern systems get designed, manufactured, and fielded faster.
With Diware stops being internal tooling and becomes a strategic advantage.

US industrial capacity has been eroding for decades, and with it the fortunes of our middle class and to an extent, our national security. Data center development and our leadership in AI can reverse that trend, finally. Current hysteria to block all projects everywhere is a gift to China.

We are going to win
Neros has received a $450M conditional loan commitment from the Office of Strategic Capital under the @DeptofWar, and is adding $165M in Neros equity to accelerate vertically integrated drone production and in-house component manufacturing. This combined $615M project will be drone industrial base.

The number of times HERA has been approached to sell our CAD and DFM data is not even funny.
I think building for an industry starts with respecting it. Engineering data is incredibly sensitive, and earning the trust of enterprise customers means treating it that way.
That trust is worth far more than the data itself.

Chris Power of @HadrianInc says in wartime simulations, the US runs out of munitions in about a week, and it takes 2-3 years to restock:
"Out of every war game we run, we run out of munitions and missiles, whatever, in like six to seven days. And then it takes about two to three ttery of, 'Hey, you now have more missiles to shoot.'"
"Every single war basically, if it goes hot, both sides throw everything they've got at each other over a time period. And it's basically then if it gets protracted, how fast can you reconstitute?"
"We shoot all our missiles in one week and then we have none for two years. That is how kind of terrible the situation is."
"The only thing we can do is focus on, honestly, attritable systems, because if you kill a carrier and they've got that range, there's nothing we can do about it."
"A lot of attritable mass... We basically blow everything in the seven days. We got to have the manufacturing battery to be able to refill the clip extremely fast."

Good list!
The 2026 American Dynamism 50 is here: our annual list of 50 companies, from within the a16z portfolio and beyond, building for America's future.
This year's theme is Production is Deterrence. "America's ability to prevent conflict depends on what it can build, how fast it can t can keep going."
A new generation of defense companies is moving from prototypes to full-scale production, and the industrial base has to keep pace. This year's list is organized around three pillars:
1. Systems: the drones, ships, missiles, aircraft, and spacecraft that deter conflict.
2. Factories: the plants, tools, and software that build them.
3. Inputs: the materials and power they're made of and run on.
Get all three right, and the impact reaches well beyond defense, to skilled jobs, revitalized communities, and the supply chains behind energy, housing, and everyday goods.
Meet all 50: a16z.news/p/ad-50-2026-p…

Great to see
Industrial robotics and advanced manufacturing are foundational to America’s defense industrial base.
Securing domestic production capacity isn’t just an economic priority – it’s a national security imperative.

Dirac CEO @FilArons warns that AI robotics startups raising millions could repeat the same mistake that killed robotics companies a decade ago:
"When I see robotics companies raising a ton of money to deploy robotics into a manufacturing environment, I think we’re seeing a t problems AI actually solved. We did not solve the integrator problem for robotics."
"There were a bunch of robotics companies in 2016, 2017, 2018 that ended up dying because, as it turns out, as a robotics company, you are functionally a robotics integrator. It’s really gritty, hard work that most tech folks don’t wanna do."
"We work with some legacy defense products. They build missiles to keep our country safe. A lot of these folks are just now getting on the cloud. The right way to do it is just meeting them where they are."

Dirac CEO @FilArons explains why a welder with 20 years of experience could beat a Stanford graduate at bringing AI to manufacturing:
"A lot of what we’re seeing is people throwing AI at legacy manufacturing problems."
"It’s directionally correct, but I’m not seeing a ton of ic problems. Not just building solutions looking for problems."
"These folks who actually know about the core problems in Western production are getting really good at AI."
"Who’s going to implement AI in these legacy production processes? Is it gonna be the Stanford kid at 22 jumping into a mom-and-pop shop with AI and some finger guns? Or is it gonna be the dude who’s been welding for 20 years just solving his own problem?"

Selling data is admission that you’re all out of ideas, and the only useful contribution you have left is shoveling coal into a steam engine barreling towards you. The ultimate indefinite optimist

Robotics founders need to burn thoughtfully.
Venture funding in Robotics has grown by over 400% over the last 2 years.
Actual installations of robotics is up <25% YoY.
Robotics is not AI. The diffusion will be slower for a while and your underlying metrics will need to catch up to the valuation at some point.
