Don't think I've ever posted this publicly before.
I wrote this many years ago for our internal wiki, but to this day it's like a lighthouse that can be used to predict whether i'm happy with how things are going or pissed off

Janeese Lewis George officially becomes Mayor-elect today and while she will immediately face tough decisions, the most important one will be whether she chooses the governing path of the progressive pragmatist (Mamdani) or ideological true believer (Johnson.)
She should choose the Mamdani path—it’s the successful—and popular—one.
My piece for @CityCast_DC dc.citycast.fm/opinion/advice…

We should actually redo America 250 under a competent admin. America 254
This path to a not-terrible midterm now seems more plausible:
- Some kind of successful resolution on Iran
- Trump then goes to the Artemis splashdown
- America 250 good vibes
- Midterm convention
- Actually force Dems to take bad votes on things like deporting criminals

The funny thing is all the anti Waymo people who think they’re standing up against tech
A mysterious anti-AV group spent more money than both of DC's top two candidates for mayor – combined.

i didnt' see this coming. probably going to be a lot more examples in the coming years
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math.
It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.
We call this Weight-Space Programming: fronely read/write neural network weights! 🧵

Former President Bill Clinton, quoted by Politico.
“If we have a good election, and I think we will, we have to realize that that’s the opportunity to establish trust — not the ability to take it for granted.”

Really really encouraging for JLG to say this to a crowd that doesn’t want necessarily to hear it. Ultimately success comes from success, not from pandering. And everyone wants this city to be successful
I know we talk a lot about unpaid rent and our broken housing ecosystem through Capital Commonsense but it’s important because it’s a big reason why interest in building new housing in the District is essentially zero and we’re at risk of loosing thousands of affordable units. see JLG make clear to that we need to fix this.

I kinda left the second part of this unsaid, but I explicitly want to say: if they do escalate in a way that shows deliberate disregard for civilians, an idea many in trumps orbit support, including his secdef, it will be a stain on our nation and a tragedy.
they plan to bomb civilians this week, that’s why he’s thinking about this

Yeah, winning is really important and it goes deeper than picking the right horse. But picking the right horse sure doesn’t hurt
Many of my friends are these people and I probably share their instincts but they had failure to launch primaries and that’s sort of on them. (They’ll get other chances?)

NEWS: Roger Marshall goes rogue.
The inside story of how an embattled Kansas Republican wanted an ad to push back on medical debt attacks, was told no by his team, made one anyway without knowledge of some advisers and got it out into the world.

One of the most brain dead arguments I see is demands for post-hoc apologies. A lot of people do it about platner too (although that can be complicated by the question of after *what* exactly). Anyway when I see people do it I just write them off as non-thinkers
If you supported Haley Stevens now is your time to speak out, denounce her as the Republican she is and apologize for supporting a traitor.

Although if you accept the principal through to its logical conclusion, I want to apologize for not supporting @Timodc when he worked for Jeb bush, because it turned out later that tim was a principled guy.

@Timodc I also want to apologize for not supporting Yevgeny Prigozhin before he decided to blow up Wagner. Destroying himself and embarrassing Russia was based, I’m very sorry for not knowing about it in advance
