Ok I'll play..........
Honestly, I think this is a haul I may part with for a proven still healthy Paul Skenes but not Elly since we have Lindor. But I understand the logic of him moving to 2B 3B etc.

And Bo Bichette will opt in again this time next year. Gotta root for him. Hes on the Mets two more years. Here's to hoping he hits .300 both years.
Bo Bichette is exercising his $42 million player option for next season and staying with the New York Mets, league sources tell The Athletic.
Bichette, 28, holds another player option worth the same amount for 2028. nytimes.com/athletic/77369…

Ongoing bottom line IMO is that David Stearns and the Mets need to reach the 2027 playoffs or else...........none of his pedigree, salary or anything should matter anymore if they go another non playoff season.
I know David Stearns is hated by Mets fans and the Mets sucked this year...
But 11 of those Brewers players were from Stearns. Almost all 11 had a significant impact on the Brewers winning the World Series.
That might mean nothing for the Mets future...but it does show you he's a good evaluator of young talent. This Brewers team was no fluke. Where the Mets go now in 2027 and beyond is going to be very intriguing with all the new young talent they traded for/drafted.
Stearns drafted:
Miz, Frelick, Turang, Ashby, Mitchell, Henderson
International signing:
Chourio, Uribe, Lara
Traded for:
Yelich, Gasser

One immediate option on the board for Mets.
Michael King has declined his player option with the Padres and will officially be a free agent, per @JonHeyman

No idea how much youth David Stearns is willing to trust in back to back seasons but I continue to say that a healthy Ryan Lambert is a walking high leverage 2027 MLB pen arm.
Mets prospects in Arizona Fall League action from Tuesday:
Cole Mathis 1-for-4, BB
Boston Baro 1-for-4, 2B
Brendan Girton 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Calvin Ziegler 1 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Ryan Lambert 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K

This remained obvious from the time he signed the deal. Bo Bichette would probably have to secure at least a 7 year deal in open market to make it worth not taking the easy 42 mil next year the year after.
My real question is this. Do Mets like his 3B enough to keep him there, or move him to 2B, make room for Rojas/Voit to come?

UPDATE
People around the Mets seem “fairly convinced” that Bo Bichette will opt in to his deal for next season and stay with the Mets, per @chelsea_janes

The sooner the world series ends, the sooner we can argue over everyone being linked to Mets and start being angry each time they sign with another team.

I hope Teruaki Sato is an option for Mets. But it is what it is. Mets are going to be linked to everyone, always, as showing interest.
Let's see how it all plays out with him and Skubal, move on from there.

David Stearns went to Japan to see Teruaki Sato play right after the Mets' season ended. Will Sato be an offseason priority?
SNY's Chelsea Janes with more:
"Don’t rule out Teruaki Sato as a big addition.
Stearns went to see him in Japan firsthand as soon as the Mets' season that trip if you aren’t seriously considering making a push for him."
