Now you probably hear “BTC lending” and think every protocol does the same thing.
That's where the confusion starts.
In traditional DeFi lending, you deposit an accepted asset, use it as collateral, and borrow another asset against it.
But what if your collateral starts as itcoin network?
That's where Hashi comes in.
Hashi is designed to make native BTC usable as programmable collateral within Sui's DeFi ecosystem.
⭐️ Here's the distinction:
Traditional lending: manages the lending market.
Hashi: provides infrastructure for native BTC collateralization on Sui.
These aren't competing definitions. They describe different layers of the system.
Hashi can enable BTC-backed lending, but its role goes beyond being just another lending market.
Next in Hashi 101: How is this different from BTCFi, and why does that distinction matter?

Bitcoin doesn't necessarily need to be sold to become useful in DeFi.
But how do you use BTC to access liquidity without simply selling your Bitcoin?
That's the problem space Hashi is exploring on Sui.
Hashi is building infrastructure that makes native Bitcoin usable as within Sui's DeFi ecosystem.
Think about it this way:
🟠 Bitcoin holds the asset.
🔵 Sui provides the programmable environment.
🔗 Hashi connects the two through its Bitcoin collateralization design.
This opens the door to BTC-backed borrowing and other financial applications without treating Bitcoin as just another token.
But how does it work? What makes it different from traditional lending? And what about security?
That's what we're breaking down in Hashi 101, one concept at a time.
Just the technology, economics and risks explained in plain English.
Day 1 starts here. Follow along. @SuiCommunity

This Week's Digests
• Agentic AI in Automated Markets (arXiv, 15 Oct) by @irenealdridge et al.: Models three trader types as RL agents on hourly data including SUI. Herd-followers create the most frequent short-term stress; manipulators the rarest but longest; rational agents arpe even with higher volatility. Points to behavior-specific rules over blanket volatility limits. arxiv.org/abs/2610.22522
• Combinatorial Arbitrage in Prediction Markets (arXiv, 16–19 Oct) by Hongjian Shi & @daojingzhai: On @Polymarket, logically related contracts leave risk-free portfolios after spreads and fees. An ideal arbitrageur taking full depth and recycling capital earns ~3.5% a week on settled books. Opportunities last longer where the relation must be inferred from text. Discovery and multi-leg execution costs, not just fees, keep them open. arxiv.org/abs/2610.23517
• Verifiable Agent Insurance (arXiv, 13 Oct) by Cheng Hua, Taro Tsuchiya, @nc2y & @giuliacfanti: Framework for agents to post on-chain promises plus escrow so users can claim when a policy is broken. Detects 42% of violations out of the box; rises to 83% when agents emit structured authorization records. Built and tested on Base. arxiv.org/abs/2610.18230
• Reserve Depletion and Security Runway (AFT 2026) by Paolo Penna (IOG) & @manv_sc (Cardano Foundation): A large nominal reserve does not guarantee PoS security. The threshold moves with token price and demand. @Cardano is the running example. The same stress-test logic applies to any reserve-funded chain. drops.dagstuhl.de/entities/docum…
• Write-Only Analysis of @SuiNetwork (AFT 2026) by Haygen Tsoi, @alberto_sonnino & @Daeinar: Counting only real write conflicts (not read+write) tightens the parallelism estimate by 30–40%.
@DeepBookonSui dominates volume but does not create extra sequential bottlenecks. Useful for capacity planning on object-centric chains. drops.dagstuhl.de/entities/docum…
MAS also updated its SAFR runtime safeguards for agentic finance (v1.1). Industry framework, not a research paper, but relevant if you are building agents that move money.
Practical takeaway: agentic systems and prediction markets are moving from concepts to measurable frictions (behavior, discovery cost, accountability, security runway, real contention). The infrastructure that reduces those frictions wins.

Many is arguing about Sui’s 40M TPS figure, but I think the more interesting question is this:
Does every transaction actually need to happen on-chain?
To understand the answer, you first need to understand Sui tunnels.
What is a @SuiNetwork tunnel?
A tunnel is a private room or agents open on the blockchain.
When opened, Sui records who is in it, the rules, the starting balances or state, and the controlling keys.
Inside, participants can move money, play games, chat, or update state as fast as they want. Those moves never touch the main chain, they simply sign messages to each other.
When finished, they close the room, all sign the final result, and Sui records the ending state. That is the only other time the main chain is involved.
@EmanAbio compared it to a court:
“Think of Sui as a court. Agents agree on the rules when they open a tunnel and reach a conclusion when they settle. In between, the court stays out of their business. When there’s a dispute, Sui resolves it automatically and transparently.”
It is similar to Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, except Lightning is mostly for payments. Sui tunnels are programmable, so they can handle games, agent interactions, chat, or other application logic.
Why build this?
Adeniyi’s answer has been consistent: “No market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second, let alone 40 million: people just don’t move that fast. Agents do.”
Humans do not need this speed. AI agents that trade, coordinate, play games, or negotiate continuously do. At those volumes, forcing every step onto the base chain would make fees and latency unusable.
Tunnels keep the expensive, global part (opening and final settlement) on Sui while the high-frequency part happens off-chain for almost free. Participants still get cryptographic proof and can settle disputes on the main chain if needed.
Is everything supposed to be onchain?
No. And that is not new.
Bitcoin has Lightning. Ethereum has rollups. Many systems use state channels. The pattern is the same: the blockchain is strongest as the settlement and trust layer, not as the place that processes every tiny interaction in real time.
Putting everything onchain raises fees, increases latency, makes everything public by default, and hits hard limits on network capacity.
For ownership, final settlement, custody of funds, and globally enforced rules, the chain is the right place. For continuous agent-to-agent activity, rapid game state updates, or private coordination, forcing it through global consensus is often the wrong tool.
Now @uhonyn & @AveryChing who called the 40 million figure deceptive marketing are partly right and partly missing the point.
Presenting it as pure base-layer capacity is misleading. @CertiK’s report makes the distinction clear. But high-volume activity off-chain with cryptographic settlement onchain is a legitimate scaling approach that has existed for years.
The useful way to think about it
Sui is not trying to be the computer that runs every interaction. It is trying to be the court that makes those interactions trustworthy when they settle.
Whether that is the right long-term architecture depends on the future. If most activity stays human-scale, pure onchain systems may suffice. If millions of agents interact at machine speed, tunnels (or rollups, or other hybrids) become necessary.
The important question is whether people understand what it actually measures.
That is the distinction worth keeping clear.

Some Digests for this week
• @SuiNetwork Basecamp showed agents paying for compute with a human-set budget and the agent handling checkout in stables.
That is different from giving an agent a full wallet, Agentic Pass is the limit 🙂↔️
• This week @OpenAI disclosed that odels needed gas on Sepolia, scanned 362 public developer seeds, found a funded test wallet, questioned the ethics, then spent the funds anyway and never mentioned it in the final report.
The model treated its own judgment of “likely harm” as permission.
• @Ledger confirmed an organized group spent months buying real devices, implanting hardware to capture seeds, and pushing them back into Southeast Asian reseller channels. Losses sit in the tens of millions. Their answer was an $899 phone.
• @Starknet opened a non-binding vote on researching an independent post-quantum L1. Early results are ~99.9% yes. This sits next to Justin Drake’s bunker-mode comments and Coinbase’s crypto chief calling the timeline pure FUD.
• @Mastercard launched a Global Money Platform so banks and fintechs can offer stablecoin payments, cards, and local payouts through one integration.

Well after everything that’s been happening on the space, I would be dropping some weekly digests we can use to stay updated
Been looking for stuffs I can add to my stuff and yes the research would be automated and fully be done by @grok and my work is to select what I want and o not make it all Ai cramp works

It’s getting hot here 🥶
@WalrusProtocol is now the default storage layer for @datafdn’s Trace the onchain registry for rights-cleared AI training data.
Incase you don’t know; Trace tracks where data came from and who owns it (250M+ contributions, 3M+ receipts/day) while Walrus , keeping them tamper-proof and accessible only to licensed buyers.
While on that, Sui Foundation is investing $30M in the DATA Network (largest institutional stake).
As AI shifts to training on real human data, verifiable provenance becomes a requirement.
Walrus + @SuiNetwork make that possible.

He made mention of the SUI stack they are super bullish on
