The best, most comprehensive take on AI I’ve read. After a year of confusion and fear about the future, I finished it feeling like a weight had physically lifted.

It’s long. Make the time.

@vgr is undefeated.

Talked to multiple founders yesterday who have been building their products over the last 3 years. Started manual code.

They feel behind and slower than companies that started this year with all code written by agents.

I have never seen such an order of magnitude difference.

1) what
we’re very pleased to announce that Primitive Research has identified 49 exoplanet candidates and counting (yes, seriously)

we searched TESS light curves from more than 19 million stars to get here

so as not to overwhelm the incredible TESS TOI Vetting Team, we’ve submitted one candidate and are holding the rest at their request

the submission was via email, of course ;)

we’ve been automating much of the painstaking work astronomers do: searching TESS data, cross-checking other sources, and vetting signals through to detailed candidate dossiers. the 49 passed our initial screening against published vetting thresholds and are ready to be considered for telescope follow-up, which we’re actively pursuing

we strongly believe this approach is novel, and we’re authoring a paper with astrophysicists on the methodology

we plan to release the data and analyses in the coming weeks

these candidates are phase 1. next, we want to find a nearby transiting habitable-zone planet candidate whose atmosphere could be studied. much more on that later

we had some amazing partners on this that we will shout out soon

if you’re interested in working with us, our DMs are open

It would not be insane for the gov to immediately fund (to the tune of hundreds of billions) OpenAI and Anthropic to attempt to break into just about everything in the next 60 days. With the new Kimi Pro it’s very clear that open models aren’t more than 2-3 months behind what the labs have internally. It’s kind of now or never (okay, it’s literally now or never).
During this red-teaming exercise, we also found a vulnerability that allows for unauthenticated remote code execution in Brotli, a widely-deployed compression library included in many pieces of software such as Node.js, Bun, and Envoy.

The flaw could let an attacker run their own code on affected systems by sending or replying with malicious compressed data, without any need to create a user account. That is, an unpatched server that accepts compressed input could be taken over by a malicious client, and an unpatched client that accepts compressed input (such as “curl --compressed”) could be taken over by a malicious server.

This root cause issue was actually fixed in the Brotli source code in February, but it wasn’t known at the time that it gave rise to a security vulnerability and there was no more recent release of Brotli. Since Brotli is built into other software, any software which includes this library needs to take the update too, followed by the users of that software. We disclosed the vulnerability to Brotli and other downstream projects such as Node.js, which released or are currently releasing security updates, and Brotli cut new release versions and published a CVE.

More details on the patch and mitigations below:

This is the craziest ratio I’ve ever seen.
Washington State’s millionaires tax will fund universal free school meals for every public school student in the state. Unless voters repeal the tax. Vote NO on I-645! washingtonpost.com/education/2026…
Community note
The millionaires tax deposits all revenue into the state general fund with only non-binding intent language for universal school meals (a dedicated account amendment was rejected); ~70% of students already have access to free meals via existing programs.

Unfortunately, with access to an abliterated DeepSeek V4.1 model, there is little value to KYC holding back the frontier models now for cyber.

In fact, making it hard to secure systems w extra friction in American Enterprise is hurtful to national security.

Hasn’t even been 4 months since I came back to VC.

I did because I thought consumer startups would be back.

We are already seeing it. Personal agents, game creation, stories and immersive worlds.

The value is now in the software and networks around the models.

What a time!

Okay, but like can we just be done with HIPAA now? Everyone knows.

None of these security incidents are a “they deserved it / had it coming” situation. We’re all next.

And if you’re a competitor using this moment to poach customers, remember this is going to happen to you too. Sooner than you'd imagine. And then everyone’s going to remember the shade you're throwing at others right now.

Have some empathy.

Chris is fucking back. For those of you that don’t know him, he was one of the first big streamers. I was nervous the first time I met him, but then he put me at ease (blame the 2010 iPhone).

Check it out if you’re a proper nerd!

What is DIEM?

DIEM is Venice's token for AI inference.

Stake it in your Venice account and each DIEM becomes a dollar of recurring daily AI credits.

Here's a walkthrough:

Reminder to check our Security Center to audit your API keys.

The AI platform hacks around the internet yesterday were mostly targeting LLM API keys, which have liquid black markets that been developing for years.

Startups storing crypto wallet keys will also be at risk.
Today we're launching the first-ever gateway Security Center.

@OpenRouter now lets you audit all your keys in one place, see which ones are safe to remove, browse keys by level of risk, and control an IP allowlist.

Thanks @TheUnbiasedCo! 🙌

I built @deskhands after spending hundreds of hours staring at CLI terminals while building @RatifyProtocol. Now my agents have desks, and Pareto has the corner office 😊

Watch your agents cook → deskhands.dev
Love seeing builders ship. @chuksy0x01 wired Pareto into @deskhands, and you can watch one real task run head to head at two desks, from start to test results.

Try it: deskhands.dev
