I have never been busier over the past 4 years since GPT-4. There’s still seemingly zero risk of this for engineers, at least.

This past month, I recently have found projects that take the normal 2-3 weeks again. Of course, these projects would’ve taken months. There’s a wide frontier out there.
I get the worry about AI taking all the jobs but it sure seems like engineers are harder to get and more expensive than ever 🤔

Looking for a good bike or bike shop to bike around SF (for me!). Any recommendations would be appreciated!

so much more to do

Very concerning situation
@Suhailard several OAI people say there are unfixable bugs in hardware that are exploitable by AI models directly speaking machine code so even if we could solve software that’s not enough. We need defense to move faster than offense if that’s even possible we may just have a new normal that requires adapting to insecure software (bank transfers require going into a branch and taking a dna test 🤣😬)

It does not seem like pacing or pausing can work.

The only practical path is significantly accelerating. We must be so far ahead as a nation on both capabilities and alignment that by the time others catch up, our version of super intelligence can defend us.

One reason sweeping your systems isn’t enough for vulnerabilities right now is because hardly anyone will also sweep every single package and the packages inside those packages.

Are you really going to sweep all of Python? Ubuntu? Every module?

Shouldn’t all these organizations had access to the best cyber models ahead of time?

Well it doesn’t matter. These hackers are using frontier harnesses, tools, and multiple models (open and closed) to get frontier exploit finding tools.

We should’ve to accelerated building 0 day tooling to defend ourselves.

And let me put this simply: if Bernie’s Sanders is posting about this, it means the hackers have had these tools for a lot longer than you may think. Once the *public* hacks gain attention, often the underground groups hacked a lot more a while ago.

Unfortunately, with access to an abliterated DeepSeek V4.1 model, there is little value to KYC holding back the frontier models now for cyber.

In fact, making it hard to secure systems w extra friction in American Enterprise is hurtful to national security.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. New world.
Quest Diagnostics has been hacked. Patient data was exposed. They serve roughly half of U.S. hospitals and physicians. Investigation ongoing.

The SF homelessness trap, simply:

Advocates convince liberals they're helping locals priced out of housing. The city spends billions on housing and services. But many recipients are drug users from outside SF.

Users attract dealers. Drugs stay cheap, services stay generous, and more people come. Cartels see this and bring in cheap fentanyl. Problem explodes.

Advocates mean well, but the unintended consequences are too great. The money we spend on housing, treatment, and healthcare for out-of-town drug users could go to San Francisco Kids & Schools.

If you can use models to reverse engineer anything and use models to swarm and find vulnerabilities, we are not ready for what's going to happen over the next 12 months.

We've now have the autonomous black hat hacker.

Tremendous crisis right in front of us.
One thing to consider is that the best hacks on American companies will go down very quietly. A great hacker is unseen. So you should presume that attacks on American companies that are noticed, are a small portion of what’s happening out there. Most hacks are just silent and steadily waiting to accumulate more valuable information on an on going basis.

If I were still in the scene, this is a golden moment. You hack everything now before it’s patched. Then you wait holding access further penetrating the rest of the organization.

So it’s critical to patch asap.
