I’ll discuss our sequential HCR approach for imaging up to 10 genes in the same Tribolium embryo, and what it reveals about how temporal gene expression becomes spatial patterns.

How does an embryo turn a sequence in time into a pattern in space?
Join us for an upcoming webinar with Professor @ezzatelsherif of @UTRGVResearch, exploring how sequential HCR™ imaging can reveal the relationship between temporal gene expression and spatial pattern formation embryos.
Professor El-Sherif will share an approach for visualizing up to ten patterning genes within the same embryo and discuss how intronic and exonic probes can provide insight into transcriptional dynamics in fixed samples.

Oh, you've "come across" another PhD student's data? How curious. It seems to be the very same student whose data you "came across" last time.
2/2 it's too much of a coincidence, just saying.
Keep your data away from AI companies, last warning

We’re sharing how our biology research team worked with Claude to map the first 3D structure of a vault particle from bacterial life.
Vault particles are a longstanding mystery. They are barrel-shaped objects, among the largest protein structures found in our cells. They were first discovered by Leonard Rome and Nancy Kedersha in 1986, but their function remains unknown.
With Claude, we’ve found results that might bring us closer to solving that mystery.
Until now, vaults were only known in the cells of complex things like animals and plants. We have shown that similar proteins from bacteria (and the viruses that infect them) can also assemble into vaults. Finding the structures in these simpler forms of life may make it easier to investigate their function in our own cells.
For our life sciences team, the project was also a demonstration of the potential (and the limitations) of using AI to accelerate science.
In our full piece, we discuss how Claude was able to dramatically speed up some stages—manually determining the vault particle’s structure would have taken weeks to months of painstaking work, but here it took days. We also discuss how Claude made some simple mistakes along the way, and how we collaborated with our machine learning researchers to address them.

⏰ What if the segmentation clock does more than tell an embryo when to make a segment?
In our new @Dev_Cell paper, we show that it also helps coordinate tissue growth with segmentation, promoting robust somite formation! 🧵👇

It's such a bubble that I wonder how people make it work in their heads to invest in them 🤔
A quick reminder of the beauty of circular financing.... I doubt there has ever been this level of dependence in the US market, as we're seeing among the AI companies today.
Bloomberg does a great job with this chart.

As Anthropic prepares to IPO for over $1 trillion, a reminder of Dario Amodei’s words shortly after founding the company:
“Distributed human labor is being used to train AI models by large, centralized actors, who concentrate the resulting profits while in the long run making e.”
In other words, this IPO will be built off the backs of the world’s creatives - who will get nothing out of it except obsolescence.
It is a totally unjust transfer of wealth and opportunity from artists, writers, musicians & other creatives to a tiny tech elite.
I hope it is remembered as such.
(this quote is from a document he wrote that was unsealed in Bartz v. Anthropic)

This is going to really help in all those search and rescue operations that fail because the lost person ran terrified into the forest to get away from their rescuers
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI. x.com/tokufxug/statu…
