Laravel AI streaming bug that cost me a timeout.
Guzzle's StreamHandler only enforces `timeout` when stream is off. With stream on, the body gets read with read(1024), and on a chunked response that fread blocks until 1024 bytes show up. stream_set_timeout doesn't interrupt it.
So a model trickling one token every 20s never times out.
Fix: wrap the body, flip the socket to non-blocking, poll each read against a deadline. Test backend sends a token every 2s and every 20s. Both get cut within about a second of a 4s deadline, the ask is marked failed, and the quota is refunded.
Anyone else hit this with laravel/ai and Ollama?

@dhh Why not Bitwarden secrets manager?
How much money is 1Password dumping on sponsorship? Cause it’s a terrible product yet all the “influencers” are babling about it today.

Was so close to landing this 6 month contract I’m a little bummed it wasn’t going to replace my full time by any means but I was going to be able to work on my Framework Desktop running Omarchy during it. So if anyone is looking for someone to do contract work in overall Software Development I’m still looking for a few things. Comment “contract” and follow me and I’ll reach out.

Laravel Octane gotcha: Inertia::share() in AppServiceProvider::boot() passes every test and breaks in prod.
Octane's PrepareInertiaForNextOperation listener calls flushShared() at the start of each request. boot() already ran, so the shared props are gone and every page server-rendered the home title, plus an empty footer.
CI stayed green because Pest boots a fresh app per test.
Rule: under Octane, share per-request props from HandleInertiaRequests, not boot(). Make the test fire Octane's flush listener before it hits the page.

Putting out a feeler: I'm opening a few founding spots for Laravel Upkeep.
Your Laravel app gets looked after every month: dependency and security updates, Laravel and PHP version upgrades, error triage, performance checks, and a short written report on what changed and what's coming.
I use AI where it actually helps, but every change is reviewed and managed by me personally. 12 years in, 7 in Laravel.
Every spot starts with a conversation, so I can learn your app before we agree on anything. If your Laravel app has been quietly falling behind, DM me.

PHP2Shell fixes are out: PHP 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, 8.5.12. 8.1 and older got no official release.
I'll patch one Laravel app for $149: PHP bumped to a fixed version, tests run, one reviewed PR within 24h. Full refund if it isn't merge-ready. DM "patch" and I'll send the link.

Liked PHP2Shell? You’re gonna love Node2Shell.
We reproduced CVE-2026-111497 as pre-auth RCE. On a vulnerable Node.js runtime, app.use(express.json()) is enough to expose your server to code execution through a single Brotli request. Patch your systems now!

Framework Desktop, 128 GB unified. I set BIOS iGPU memory to 96 GB, thinking a big carve-out helps local LLMs.
On Linux that left the OS ~31 GB and capped the GPU at 96.
Fix: iGPU memory to Minimum (0.5 GB), raise the amdgpu GTT limit. GPU borrows up to ~112 GB on demand.

PHP2Shell fix on a FrankenPHP Laravel app: the floating base tag already pointed at the patched build. I pinned 1.13.2-php8.4.27 anyway.
A builder with a warm cache can reuse the old base layer and ship old PHP while the Dockerfile looks fine.
On a CVE, pin the patched tag.

Got 25 "CI failed" alerts in one minute yesterday.
All old commits on main. Looked like a replay of old runs, not new breakage.
Two rules now:
1. 5+ reds inside one minute become a single digest
2. if the sha isn't the branch head, no alert
A red on a stale sha is just noise.

Sydney Sweeney reveals in an interview that she doesn’t care about the PHP vulnerability because she moved everything to Rust in 2024.
“They said the rewrite would take six months. We’re on month 30. We haven’t shipped a feature since, but I’m having a very normal Wednesday.”
