I started losing all the links to the awesome Omarchy stuff I did.

So I made a website with all of my Omarchy Goodies.

Enjoy!

Day one on a Pixel 9 Pro XL:
- Arch Linux on my home screen
- widgets I wrote myself
- connected to herdr on my PC and back
- GitHub backups

One day. That's all it took. Omalauncher by @simonschubert is the best thing in the world. The iPhone is dead.

Replying to @dhh
@dhh releases Jade Horse.

Naturally, I put a rocket in it. Then a horse in the launch clouds.

At this point I’m not building a wallpaper collection. I’m demonstrating a complete inability to leave a perfectly good theme without a rocket in it. 🚀🐎
A beautiful jade theme to celebrate the year of the horse. github.com/dhh/omarchy-ja…

I was there but never took photos 😭😭😭
✨🇨🇳 I’m traveling in Shanghai, China, and currently at Yu Garden. I can barely find a single Chinese person in the entire area—everywhere I look, there are foreigners holding up their phones, snapping photos. 📸🧐

Money laundering mechanics with Open source 😂
❗️ Denmark's digital ministry has quietly stopped its trial of an open-source rival to Microsoft Office, Computerworld reports.

38 staff began testing Collabora from Danish firm cBrain in June 2025.

The then minister planned to get the whole ministry off Office by that autumn.

everyone I met in Shenzhen tells me that they can’t build anything in US because the cost is too high and lead times are crazy (probably because all components are shipped from Shenzhen anyway?)

robotics companies in the US source from China and hiring Dongguan talent to run assembly on-shore (makes sense)

even the apparel LA “factories” source most things from China / SEA (am I wrong here?)

how would you about building “Shenzhen of the West”?

curious…
America needs a Shenzhen of the West

it will be built differently, in a way that fits our country's existing topology

but it's incredibly important we are competitive on

1) talent
2) capital
3) factory & infrastructure

density

right now our version of this is spread out across the western US

- SF has software talent and capital
- LA has hardware talent and factories, but is limited by scale
- The Texas Triangle is where you go to scale

we need to either bring these things closer together or make it easier to travel between all these places

the important outcome is that this will increase cross-pollination and collaboration, and this in turn will compound progress

the metric must be "same day round trip" - you should be able to go anywhere in the zone and return to the same bed every night

this threshold is important because opportunities emerge out of both:

1) serendipity

2) low-predictability socializing

both of which happen when you can afford to be less intentional about where you show up, because the cost for you to do so is lower

the second you're forced to be intentional, you triage what's "worth it" to show up for and your likelihood of unexpected interactions plummets

density is the key to velocity. this is why cities have long been important for civilizational progress.

same problem, new opportunity, new stakes.

New theme announced, five minutes later it's running on the TV. Love the pace of diffusion in this community!
@dhh's new `jade-horse` and `year-of-the-horse` themes look absolutely magnificent on a big TV screen with OmarchyTV. 🐎✨

Honestly can't decide which one to keep as my daily driver right now - which one would you pick?

A group of people who truly love technology, getting together to discuss the things they’ve created. Thanks DHH, thanks Shenzhen.

My kids prepare for the city state Math tournament.

So I asked @grok to scan the internet for the tasks from previous years, from different schools and olympic games.

It created a list of 2000+ tasks for all grades.

Now my kids use it to prepare. All done in 1 hour

I want to main drive three phones atm:

- Fold 7 for its gorgeous display and amazing ecosystem (watch, buds...)
- Poco X8 Pro Max for performance and 8500(!) mAh battery power house. Lasts for 3 days easily
- Xiaomi 15 Ultra Leica - terrific photos and great design.
