welcome to life kids, here’s your screen. you absolutely have to learn how to use this thing because your entire professional and social life will be plugged into it. just don’t get lost in the infinite addiction portal that is also on there for some reason haha ok kids have fun
This is an incredible project: NBC News asked parents to check their kids' YouTube history during school hours — and the results show kids are spending huge chunks of the day watching videos that have nothing to do with learning

@QiaochuYuan maybe they should get the kids to check some of their parent's youtube history during work hours and they'll find everyone's watching similar quality content

@QiaochuYuan Someone should create a closed off internet that perfectly mimics what it was like back in the 2000s and 2010s
Give them flash games and slow paced videos not absolute brain blasting mrbeast content

@QiaochuYuan Feels actually healthier than the completely uncensored internet the millenials were handed as kids. At least the internet is just a bunch of walled gardens now

@QiaochuYuan I’m not sure why their teachers are letting them misuse their device? If one of my students does so then they only get paper resources. it’s very easy I do this all the time. Obviously they want to scroll reels instead of looking up a relevant reference you just don’t let them?

@QiaochuYuan Christ what happened to watching Dr Who or whatever was awesome on the TV?
Did they somehow remove every single good series on every channel or something?

@QiaochuYuan This isn’t teachers fault. Kids behavior is so messed up. Parents are lazy. No discipline. Kids getting passed up the chain with no skills. Behavior problems not being sent home. iPad dulls the dullards so you can teach those with brains, self discipline and proper parenting.

@QiaochuYuan Why not just have some kind of YouTube education functionality where channels or videos have to be whitelisted to be seen?

@QiaochuYuan I wish they taught a little bit of dopamine mechanics at school. A small lesson (<30 minutes) and you can learn enough to recognise how and when your levers are being pulled. Even better, you can learn how to pull them yourself.

@QiaochuYuan Technically in a free market, you’re going to have to compete for attention.
School was always looked at as hard work and dedication, that’s going to have to change to inspire the next generations.
