The REAL reason people hate AI:
they feel threatened and are scared that they don’t know where they will fit in this new world. Like many of us, they have attached their identity and worth to their skill.
There is also cognitive dissonance. To watch something you spent years mastering replicated by a robot in seconds.
All to say is the AI debate is simply a struggle of human emotion. I am certain that if these same people truly invested in it, they would find that their creativity would expand.

It’s not condescending. Anything I could ever say pro-AI in any way would have someone rebuttal and question my character.
Slop isn’t even the debate. It’s just the current word being used to fight. Notice how I don’t call people rude names. I don’t condemn others for their choices. I’m a human being who innocuously got involved in AI because it is improving my life and my skills and the things that bring me joy.
What is it about AI that has personally caused you harm or damage?

The other REAL reason is that not all developers are also creative, and for them the role of developer has been wiped out completely. I think those are the people who are angriest, and I'm not sure we can say they're wrong. On the other hand, the world evolves, and we have to keep up.

@IndieGamesWTF I agree with this and have seen it. Software engineers have it worst. But also, surprisingly, they seemingly are also the first to adapt and learn and integrate AI.

AI destroyed my industry. Real thing. I teach people. Always have. At one point I was earning 100k a month selling online coding courses.
Today I can’t make money with training videos if I wanted to. My peers have the same issue: AI is killing video courses. Why learn a tech skill when AI can do the work?
It’s frustrating. But it’s also an opportunity. Now I do more human coaching than ever before.
I spend way more time helping people reach outcomes (vs just a skill).
I’ve had to adapt. I have anxiety from time to time and working closely with people often drains me. But I’ve had to evolve how I work.
The same with coding and SAAS. Everything is changing.
It’s ironic, with AI I’ve personally been forced to be more human and connect at a more human level in order to connect with people and sell products. People are less tolerate of noise and slop.
I’m 40 and learning new things is harder. But I have to. And honestly, I’m having more fun learning AI than struggles and hardships.
All to say is that I’m navigating this changing world like everyone else and I think there is no need to group people in buckets of “Pro AI vs Against AI”
We are all people. And just because things are hard doesn’t mean they are wrong.

@PlayUGC Not rly, the reason why I'd be mad is because I love to do things from scratch and I hate when people speedrun things that end up being 95% correct instead of 100% correct, it literally disgusts me to see little care in what you are doing, at least if you get paid for it

@ZzZzZ500 I agree. And people are using this as an argument. But people always have made slop. Customers are still king at the end of the day and they don’t want slop either.
I’m not sure the argument should be around “ai slop” because human slop is always present and always has been.

Looking great
From the Flux 3 character reference to a fully rigged character in Unreal Engine!
Generated the high-poly model with Tripo 3.1, then used the Blender Agent inside the workflow to bake it down to low poly. Atlas rigging tools handled the rig and animations. The fingers came out cloth physics in Unreal Engine to give the generated cape mesh more movement.
Check out the full workflow in the comments.

Love this!
The team behind 99 Nights in the Forest didn’t launch with a big moment. They just quietly put it out and let it grow. Watch the full Made on Roblox episode: rblx.co/made-on-roblox…

I guess you just never enjoyed doing what you do? And never got good enough to tell slop apart?

Don’t you think that your response here is a little unkind? It’s like you’ve put me (and a group of people) into a bucket of un-inspired and creatively illiterate humans? You are upset and then send that back to me. Why?
What happened to you personally with AI that caused damage in your life to hate it? So much damage that you feel the need to bring another human lower.

@PlayUGC It's efficient and standardized.
What people dislike is when you bring a store-bought pie to the party and expect everyone to treat you like a baker. Then get angry and confused when they don't.

That is a good contrived example actually. Because if you brought a pie to a party, nobody would ask where it came from. They would care if it’s good or not.
Your example is more like someone bringing a store bought pie to a party of bakers. And the bakers question and scrutinize and judge and condemn.

My most honest and real thoughts on AI in games. Not defending sides. Just me talking about why I use AI.

@PlayUGC Well you create a job spec to hire a QA and a 3D artist, not rely on AI as a crutch. If everyone is a penny pincher like you, the economy collapses people need income to create demand, and demand is what creates jobs. "Creator" my ass.

@alquemir2 See this is my point. This is an emotional response to something that doesn’t require it. On a real note, in what way has AI caused a negative impact on your life? What happened that caused you to have this viewpoint? Sincerely asking because I don’t know how one reaches there

This reasoning lacks an understanding of why people pursue a skill in the first place.
I used to think this way: Why won't artists use Ai to augment their skills then I realized that eliminates the whole point of doing art in the first place.

On a real note, this is probably a great area of research. Like what aspects of the human psyche tied to creation are impacted by hands on vs spoken creation vs ideas coming to life regardless of how. I’ve been an artist since the youngest age. And now that I’m in AI, I still find myself spending the same amount of effort/brain power in getting things I want with AI as I did before. However my output is more

Roblox isn't a kids gaming platform. I would describe it as an immersive creative ecosystem for all ages. There are so many sub-cultures and audiences within it. Love being here.
