Reading the Steam reviews for my demo has left me speechless. I never would have expected players to resonate with my game so much.
Thank you for playing Hell Is Other People, for the beautiful words, and for supporting independent artists!

“you’ll be left behind if you don’t use Al”
Sure. And you’ll be “ahead” for a short period of time in which you’ll render yourself incapable of anything other than a middleman who knows how to prompt, which will turn out to be the most replaceable loophole job on earth

I hate to keep posting about this, but I think reading this entire thread is very eye opening. Whether you're a gamer or a dev, this is what we'll be dealing with.
It isn't about ideology. It really is about not letting sociopaths ruin games for everyone.
Please read it.

I vow to use a.i. and lie about it.
And I'm gonna get away with it too.

You are now extremist if you don't want to buy anything made with genAI 😂
Stop trying to force it on people. Disclosures exist so people can make informed choices. You don't get to tell anyone what to spend their money on.

@stuckinattic @JNavok If all you need to know is "was AI used" then it's not an informed decision, but a binary reduction, and your choice is not informed but ideological. Putting aside for a sec how extremists that sounds, I believe that the players should make informed decisions. For me more info on

The guy that made this says we're jealous of his game 😄

After months of work, I’m excited to share The Last Reel, my horror game set in Japan and inspired by the black-and-white rubber-hose cartoons of the 1930s.
Behind the playful animation are unsettling places to explore, puzzles to unravel, monsters to escape, and chases that e to think.
Seeing it all come together in this trailer means a lot. I’d love to hear what you think. 🖤
Horror fans and content creators: interested in playing early? DM me about early access.

This is how it has always been BTW. People like this with zero artistic creativity or talent DETEST people who can create.
It makes all the sense in the world to me that these guys would rather listen to AI slop than be in awe of a talent they'll never achieve.

Bucha. It was a genocide, recognized by everyone. They buried hundreds of people. They tortured people. We found the grave. There were, I believe, around 500 people. When we liberated those towns near Kyiv, there emerged this, you know, this kind of hatred for the Russians, right at that moment. Not even at the moment when they started the full-scale war. Back then nobody understood what it really was yet. People understood what this war was and what Putin did personally when we found those mass graves of tortured adults, children. I mean they didn't just kill them, they tortured and killed them.
When we liberated Bucha, I said, bring every journalist here. Don't touch anything, just bring the journalists. The whole world simply has to see this. Imagine finding a mass grave in the U.S. or in Britain, God forbid, with 500 tortured people, adults, kids, dogs, animals shot dead. I mean, they held hunting sprees there from military vehicles. People were running, they were shooting, just hunting, playing games. They literally just played with people, like slavery. So how, after this, can you listen to Putin? And how, after this, can you forgive?
From The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett. (2/3)

I usually check out as many games as possible in Next Fest, but the tidal wave of AI trash has beaten me
Non-AI indie devs please post your games below and I'll check em out instead
Also @Steam PLEASE add an option to filter AI games in searches. It's killing discoverability

Sure, Anthropic may have stolen all the world's intellectual property, destroyed the education system, incited mass layoffs among the corporate class, devalued all art and destroyed social trust but somehow they also managed to lose $80 billion in the first half of 2026

It did. Absolutely developed a ML/AI program to discern frame to frame movement of animated characters and how the lighting/shading should follow along. "KLaS".
Developed in 2015. A full 7 years before Midjourney V1 dropped. 6 years before DALL-E dropped.
That software to control the lighting/shading. Then the curves were reviewed and massaged frame by frame by artists.
It's important to distinguish the difference between that form of ML/AI and the exploitative abusive and harmful general AI generative software we're pushing back on right now. Machine Learning has been useful for decades. Nuance is key.

@Stretchedwiener Klaus broke some early ground on that as well, no?
