🇺🇬 @Makerere University Secretary Yusuf Kiranda told the Public Accounts Committee that students seeking to use Freedom Square must book in advance and disclose their meeting content, prompting Chairperson @nsambapatrickUg to question whether the venue still lived up to its challenged the restrictions, arguing that a space where students once debated with political leaders was being controlled at the expense of developing future leaders.
Henry Alinaitwe rejected the suggestion that Makerere had killed student politics, pointing to former student leader @ShamimNambassa involvement in politics.
But when Nsamba pressed him on whether management also wanted to know what students would discuss, Kiranda acknowledged that it did.

UPDATE: Raymond Eden Asiku, one of the individuals who swore an affidavit in the habeas corpus case, has told court that he was detained at the same facility as Sam Mugumya, although he could not identify the location because he was blindfolded. Asiku says Mugumya was alive when , adding that he and others would help carry Mugumya because he was unable to walk on his own.
