So I created an entire med school using AI.
It started out as a joke with my friends, but just grew and grew into something that still astonishes me in its depth and breadth.
I call it the Hibbert School of Medicine. Check it out at hibbertmed.com

Chamath Palihapitiya admits his blind spot on America's broken two-tier economy

PALIHAPITIYA: "I got it totally totally totally wrong. I got it totally wong."

"I'll go through all the ways in which I got it wrong, but I just want to first acknowledge what my blind spot is. Like ts, but I can just speak for myself, it is through the lens of my own lived experience and very narrowly what is in my best interests. And I think what we had was a move away from the culture wars that was very much in my best interest, but I think it was in everybody else's best interests as well. I don't think that was on the ballot. But what I don't think I understood clearly enough, and I think that this election has made extremely clear, is that since COVID, we have moved past political ideology. And I want to say this again: I do not think Democrats or Republicans matter. That is my real takeaway after this election. There is a central block of people that vote the prescient issues of our time."

"It was a gargantuan win for Biden, then it was a gargantuan win for Trump, and then it was a gargantuan win for the Democrats in these midterms. What are these people voting for? I think what they are shouting now—they were trying to signal and now they are shouting—is a broad-based belief that the economy has completely decoupled from reality and is broken. The economic reality in America is broken."

"There is a small percentage of people, the four of us on this pod and all of our friends, who are the asset owners of America. And we have benefited in every weather condition. When rates were zero, we benefited because we were able to build our businesses with very cheap capital. When rates were high, we benefited because we had pricing power. And in every condition in between, whether there were tariffs, whether there were not tariffs, whether there were subsidies, whether there were not subsidies, we've all managed to continue to accumulate and grow assets, but we are few and far between."

"And then there's everybody else who are wage earners, and the structural capacity of the American economy to support and grow wage earners is broken. It's clear. Why do I say that? I do not think, and I disagree with Freeberg, I don't think this has anything to do with socialism. I don't think the far left won particularly more than they were expected. I don't think the far right won particularly more than was expected. This is a complete and total repudiation about the state of the economy. The economy is broken. I have a few charts to support my point of view. Number one, if this was ideological and if ideology mattered, money in politics would have had a more direct impact on the election."

It's nice to see friendlier faces in Washington, but 🇨🇦 has to remember that:

1) Trump is still there for 2 more years and can still do a lot of damage

2) instead of the evil clown show we have now, the next Republican admin could actually be competently evil, and really hit our vulnerabilities

Carney should stay the course on self-reliance and diversifying trade partners.
Abdul El-Sayed: "This tariff war in Canada is insane. It makes zero sense. There is no economic reason why we are having a tariff war with our biggest trading partner. That has to end."

Dear Israeli friends. Here's the view from New York. Like many of you, I want nothing more than to see Netanyahu gone. But this is not nearly enough. After the huge win by the Democrats here, some people (Lapid, etc.) are posting that, basically, "if we get rid of Netanyahu and just smile more, close our mouth when we eat, and explain things better to our American friends, all be well." It will not. Until and unless there is a dramatic change in Israeli policies in Gaza and the West Bank, and a serious commitment to a Palestinian state, nothing will change. Our current policies are ugly. Lipstick won't help. You don't believe me? Just wait a couple of months.

If this guy were in charge there would need no conflict in the middle east:
Ten Commitments That Could Truly Transform Israel’s Relationship with America

Excellent tweet, But if you genuinely want to repair Israel’s standing in the United States, What Israel needs is not a better public relations campaign. It needs a fundamental change in policy.

Here are ten commitments I would encourage you to make publicly that will really make a change in DC:

A. Israel cannot and should not permanently occupy another people. The occupation is not a sustainable national strategy. It undermines Israel’s democratic character, its international legitimacy, and ultimately its own security.

B. I extend my hand in peace to the Palestinian people. I recognize their right to self-determination and am prepared to engage in serious negotiations toward a political settlement that guarantees security, dignity, and a better future for both peoples.

C. I will not pressure the Trump administration into launching another costly and ultimately unsuccessful military campaign against Iran. After two rounds of fighting that failed to achieve their central strategic objectives, it is time to rethink our approach. Preventing a nuclear-armed Iran must remain a priority, but another war without a realistic political endgame is not a strategy.

D. Arab citizens of Israel are equal citizens, with equal rights and an equal stake in the country's future. I will not hesitate to work with their elected representatives in the Knesset, and I am prepared to consider including Arab parties in a governing coalition if we can agree on a common political agenda.

E. My vision is an Israel defined by prosperity, security, and peace, not endless territorial expansion and permanent conflict. Israel will not permanently occupy Gaza or annex the West Bank. I will work closely with President Trump to fully implement his peace plan in a manner that benefits Israelis, Palestinians, and the broader international community.

F. Israel has no ambition to determine who governs Lebanon or to occupy Lebanese territory. Once Israel's legitimate security requirements are met, we will withdraw to an internationally recognized, secure border and work toward a sustainable security arrangement.

G. The same principle applies to Syria. Israel has no territorial ambitions in Syria and no desire to dictate who governs Damascus. Our objective is a secure border, enforceable security arrangements, and long-term regional stability.

H. I will make rebuilding Israel's relationships with Egypt and Jordan a strategic priority. These peace treaties are among Israel's greatest diplomatic achievements. Let me be absolutely clear: neither Jordan nor Egypt is an alternative homeland for the Palestinian people. Israel will not support forced displacement or policies designed to transfer Palestinians into either country.

I. Israel should aspire to a relationship with the United States that is increasingly based on mutual investment, innovation, and shared strategic interests rather than dependence on American taxpayer assistance. I will propose a joint US-Israel investment fund to advance major initiatives in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, energy, and scientific research, generating tangible benefits for both societies.

J. I will deliver precisely the same message to European leaders. Israel wants to rebuild trust with its European partners through responsible policies, respect for international law, renewed diplomatic engagement, and a genuine commitment to peace.

+
Israel will fight terrorism in all its forms, without exception or double standards, including Jewish terrorism and violence against innocent Palestinians. Terrorism is terrorism, regardless of who commits it. No individual or group will be above the law, and those responsible will be held accountable. The rule of law must apply equally to everyone..

The bottom line:

If you want to restore bipartisan support for Israel in Washington, rebuild trust with younger Americans, and reverse Israel's deteriorating international standing, you must first confront the policies that helped create this crisis.

The problem is not that Israeli politicians are failing to explain themselves effectively in English. The problem is what they are defending.

You cannot continue supporting permanent occupation, settlement expansion, endless wars, and the political exclusion of Arab citizens while expecting American public opinion to move in your favor.

Israel does not need a better salesman in Washington. It needs a different policy in Jerusalem.

"The reason we lost is the war," says JD Vance, a war that Vance -- regardless of what he claims he did in private -- has been publicly defending and justifying.

He also cites the 4 reasons Trump voters voted Dem: 1) the war, 2) cost of living, 3) America First and 4) Israel.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.

So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."

Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.

There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.

But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.

Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:

1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel

Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)

In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.

The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.

If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.

But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.

I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

One admirable part of the American system is how quickly promising politicians can rise (and fall). New ideas can circulate more easily.
In Canada, we get stuck with familiar names and faces way past their prime. The conservatives should have tried new leadership long ago.
My God why didn't we seize the chance to strike a deal right before Trump suffered the worst election drubbing of any Republican president in 50 or maybe 100 years...

Gaza is the defining moral issue of our time, and any politician that tries to deflect, defend or enable this massacre will not get elected, period.

The midterms have proven that Americans are a decent people who do not want blood on their hands.

Without the Iran war, it's conceivable that Trump could have prevailed tonight. Why he decided to create this mess will be a question for the ages.
Sure, this is a bloodbath, but once again it's important for Republicans to remember that it was the price to pay for a war that was started for no reason and that accomplished absolutely nothing of value except killing a bunch of people and making everyone poorer.

The entire Democratic Party owes a massive debt of gratitude to Zohran Mamdani.

Before his rapid rise, the party was largely rudderless, suffering from a loss of direction, momentum, and self-confidence. By drifting away from the working class, the party naturally saw voters
Mamdani single-handedly corrected the course, bringing vital energy, ideological clarity, and an authentic connection back to the very people who had been left behind.

Without his influence, the party’s current standing would look very different.
