2025 and 2026 are going to go down as some of the best years for JRPG's in history.

Final Fantasy Resonance though...Man, this is the first time I've cared about the IP in years, if not decades. Feels like it's testing the waters for an FFVI remake.

And I'll throw in Brigandine Abyss and Another Eden (Switch) for good measure. And a good chunk of Dragon Quest remakes too!

Crazy, crazy good showing for JRPG's rn.
I've played Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and now Final Fantasy Resonance back to back to back.

These RPGs couldn't be more different, but they are all so good.

I told you.

I told you all. I told you over two years ago. I told you over two years ago that Vivek Ramaswamy isn't an American and never will be.

And what did you say?

OMG you just don't like him because he's brown you horrible basement dwelling racist. That's what you m not stupid. I know better than to be right too early.

Now I'm going to repeat myself. Vivek Ramaswamy is not American. Everything he says or thinks about America, he must mentally translate into the closest equivalent concept from his own culture, rather than understanding it in its own right.

When he says that the founding fathers "sacrificed their honor", he reveals that he does not understand what Americans mean by honor. He is instead translating it to the third world concept of "face" or "izzat", which is not what we would call honor at all, but social standing or reputation with the existing power structure.

Similarly, when he thinks that Amy Acton is somehow compromised by having been raped at the age of 12 by an adult charged with her care. Under third world values, this is a loss of "face" for her. Under American values, it's considered dishonorable to rape kids.

But the largest and most obvious clue, the one that should have dialed you all in, came earlier. Came two years ago.

You know the one.

The issue isn't that he called Americans lazy and mediocre. That's just third-world woofing, and we can absorb a simple insult. The third world insults us constantly now that we are selling them smartphones and internet access. Around here, we call that "Tuesday".

No, the significant point here is that he revealed his complete lack of understanding of how Americans innovate and succeed.

Being dragged into cram school by a tiger mom every summer, to drill trigonometry problems, may be how the Chinese and Indians personally succeed in their societies, by passing examinations and winning secure niches in their society's top institutions gaining much face thereby.

But this is not how Americans succeed, and it is not what propelled America to the pinnacle of civilization, technology and wealth.

We succeed by how we cultivate, motivate, and allocate talent.

This is something you can't explain to third-worlders, no matter how many times you repeat yourself. If they could understand it, they would not be third-worlders, because their countries would long ago have turned into first world countries.

They just think we are saying that we are so talented that we don't need to work hard. That we are so much smarter than they are that we can watch Saved By The Bell and have sleepovers and go to prom while they are drilling math problems.

This might actually be true. Our average IQ is about 20 points higher, give or take.

But that's not what's really going on here.

What's going on here is that Americans do work hard... but not in the context of an institutional pipeline set up by the state.

Americans work hard by playing.

When two American kids invent heavier-than-air flight, they don't do it by going to drill trigonometry problems and sitting for the state college exams. They just play around with kites, and bicycles, and bicycle kites, without asking anyone's permission or blessing first.

And they keep obsessively tinkering until something works.

They are working hard. But they are not working hard because someone is standing over them with a whip. They are working hard because they are obsessed with bicycle kites.

Americans greatness comes from three guys in a shed. We innovate by fooling around.

Is every American like this? This talented? This obsessed? Of course not. But the secret sauce has another ingredient, and that is respect for results, not for credentials or riches or titles or izzat. If some American shows up wearing stained overalls, with straw sticking in his hair, and says that his name is Jimmy Ray Hatfield, and he reckons he just mighta dun figgered out this fusion containment thing, ya'll, then Americans don't throw sticks at him.

We say... show me.

Guys like Vivek don't get that. They don't understand that in America, credentials and job titles are just something you pick up along the way to learning to actually make something, and it is the making of something, not the titles, that we consider to be success.

Vivek in office would be a disaster for Ohio, not only because he is a grifting scumbag, but because one cannot foster American greatness if one does not understand what makes America great.

The greatness of America is in its people. If the republican party does not realize that, then it must be replaced by a party that does, because the goal is not for republicans to win, the goal is for America to win.

And TransAmericans are not Americans.

This is an excellent video by @Patriotdadev77! The Bridging movement is highly manipulative and the blocking movement is dangerous. I wouldn’t talk to them either.

It’s very unsettling to know after @DataRepublican @iamlisalogan and I found their recorded meetings and started posting about them, they were discussing us.
The person mentioned in this video that turned down a "bridging" conversation with Danielle Reif and Paul Zeits was me.

Here's why I have no interest in building bridges with people who want to destroy our Constitutional Republic.

Turns out she may have saved our Republic. Seems like apologies might be in order.

Done with the first chapter of Final Fantasy Resonance and just...wow! I think it's what World of Final Fantasy tried so hard to be.

It's part Octopath Traveler
It's part Persona (ha!)
It's part SNES-era Final Fantasy

And it doesn't try to hide ANY of it. It does not waste your time.

Part of me also feels like the HD-2D side of Square-Enix is trying to steal some of the spotlight from the FFVII Remake folks a bit. So far, it's been been a full-on tribute mostly to FFVI. In some ways, it may actually be BETTER than an FFVI HD-2D remake.

This one's getting DLC and sequels. It has legs. A lot of us waited a LONG time for this.

And...the English voice acting for Final Fantasy Resonance didn't even make it out of the very first castle. Good lord, is it bad! @SquareEnix

Great intro though!
Target acquired!

It's not very often I bounce a game ahead of my entire backlog and clear a whole weekend for it (in fact, I've probably turned my PS5 on three times since the start of July), but Final Fantasy Resonance is something I've been asking for for a LONG time.

I fell somewhere around the middle of the PS2 era. I thought the PS3 was generally a weak period for the genre (it mostly got relegated to handheld systems) and then about midway through the PS4, it started catching on again. I don't have a crazy amount of time to play (and my focus is mostly on retro stuff), but a lot of both collecting and playing the past decade has been PS4/PS5 JRPG's.

What got me back on the bandwagon was Octopath Traveler on the Switch and the HD-2D style in general. In fact, it's the only game I basically played through on both consoles (the PS5 version had an improved framerate and I wanted to pick another main, so I had a good excuse...I mained Tressa on the Switch and Cyrus on the PS5).

I remember thinking it was the proper follow-up to Final Fantasy VI and that I was going to play the hell out of a Final Fantasy done in the same style. I've seen the ups and downs of both Square-Enix and Final Fantasy (mostly downs since FFX) and it feels good to inject the "new" retro style into it.

Lo and behold...Square Enix gave it to us. And in an era of overpriced and incomplete games, for a cool $50.

I haven't looked at the reviews (they're irrelevant), the demos or many of the screenshots. I just knew "I'm buying this and I'm playing the hell out of it when it comes out!"

🚨🚨🚨🚨This means it's pretty much over for the Democrats in Arizona this election unless they engage in the most blatant obvious cheating. I've lived here half my life, was the former Maricopa County Elections attorney, and have NEVER seen Republicans equal the Democrats with ballot returns before an election, because they are more likely to vote in person on Election Day than Democrats. And I just heard Republicans are now ahead. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Latest ballot returns with 30% of the expected vote in.

Rep: 38.5%
Dem: 38.7%
Oth: 22.8 %

There is no blue wave, unless republicans stop voting. There are several tight races that we can win. Go vote early tomorrow, don't wait!

37 million views and counting after the Atlanta Falcons make one seemingly simple change to their X profile picture.

The team's throwback falcon design is drawing comparisons to Nazi-era imagery, with social media users flooding the post with jokes, memes and AI-generated e calling it "the bird reich," while others are questioning why the 2-4 Falcons are focusing on their profile picture instead of their performance on the field.

But the design dates back to the team's early years in the 1960s, and this isn't the first time a Falcons profile picture has sparked these comparisons.
