Blinder & Watson (2016) found that there is superior economic performance under Democratic Party presidents thanks to fewer wars and energy shocks, which they seem to characterize as dumb luck or something but IMO reflects a genuine pattern.

It's unpopular to say, but we now need to pay our politicians more.
Take the US House. Their salaries have been frozen since 2009. In real terms, they've gone from a very respectable $300k to barely half that, $174k. That's much less than many could make in the private sector.

So many of you have lost your damn minds. You’ve either become Putin apologists or shamelessly grovel at the feet of those who are.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. But I’m not sure you’re capable of shame anymore.

But we won't be contacted by aliens, because they all died out from watching fashion videos
The impression I get from the AI maximalists is that if we're ever contacted by aliens, we should expect that we'll actually be talking to their version of Claude, and that the actual aliens will be watching alien fashion videos and won't understand how or why we were contacted.

Racism (as @ZaidJilani points out) is dumb.
Sure, some people way have overused the label, applying it far too broadly, but racists still exist and they’re dumb.
I teach students from many different backgrounds. They’re mostly all good kids. (Except for the Luxembourgers.)

@ZaidJilani It’s funny that you still think calling us “racist” is a gotcha

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

I wrote “Declaring Bari Weiss off-limits is just middle-school cafeteria cliques” and someone called me a “Bari lover”
Nowhere did I say I loved Bari.
But if you don’t hate their enemies as much as they do, they assume you must love them. Cue the waffles and pancakes meme.

“Working for a known bad actor”
This guilt by association thing is crazy.
It’s not that I 100% disagree—if you were working for Nick Fuentes or Hasan Piker, I would think ill of you—but these guys have such a broad definition of “bad actor” that it’s worse than useless.
I’m mixed on the FP, but that’s true for The Nation and the WSJ too. Declaring Bari Weiss off-limits is just middle-school cafeteria cliques. “If you’re Bari’s friend you can’t be MY friend!”
