For some species, we have made some recovery!
Humpback whales, for example, have dramatically recovered.

the reason moby-dick remains such a vital piece of human art is that it addresses what is probably one of humanity's greatest collective atrocities, the genocide of the whales, with an ambivalence it cannot itself fully articulate. melville is distraught, but he can't explain why

For the future of CA, both Raman and Wiener need to win.
Nearly everything else about CA Dem vs Dem elections is irrelevant compared to the horrific NIMBYism.

In British Columbia, the left-leaning NDP, headed by David Eby, has just sacrificed two more years in government by calling an early election only to get blown out by the BC Conservatives #oof

It's like watching a neolithic civilzation discover the wheel
One thing I am ABSOLUTELY changing for my Malfoid fanfics is the size of the wizarding population in the UK. JK made it WAY too small. Some sources are quoting her at 3,000. That’s 3,000 in a population of, in 1991, 57.7 MILLION. Magic should certainly be rare, but at 3,000, it’s too small to have Pure-Blood Supremacists taken seriously by more than 50 or so Witches and Wizards and they’d all be inbred to the point of serious defects and infertility. So, I will be bumping up the size of the wizarding population, but I’m not sure by how much. Any suggestions?

This is a prime example of how it's basically impossible to starve to death in America but semi-costly in both time and money to actually eat healthy, tasty meals.
You can buy ground beef already cooked and drained at Walmart for 10 cents more per pound than the raw ground beef which you have to then cook yourself. $6.74 vs $6.84. Sounds like a no-brainer.

After listening to his speeches today, I’m once again forced to conclude that Obama is still, by far, the most rhetorically gifted politician in America and it’s not close.

During the Obama presidency, the most popular show in America, watched by nearly 20 million people a week, had one of its main characters working as a waitress at The Cheesecake Factory. Her job was a running joke.
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?

Since 2016, all of these states have a had a split party outcome for governor/Senator on the same ballot.
It would hardly be unprecedented if both Talarico and Abbott win!
It would hardly be unprecedented if both Talarico and Abbott win!
This is like the craziest thing I’ve ever seen
Everyone turned out to vote for Abbott but they left it blank for Paxton or voted for Talarico?
That is not how most voting humans operate

Amy is right - it's not how most voting humans operate. Most people vote straight ticket these days.
But you don't need "most." You need maybe 10%, perhaps less, to get a split result in very many cases.

Barack Obama is 65 years old. Retirement age. Grey hair.
And yet he's 15 years younger than Donald Trump and 18 years younger than Joe Biden. In fact, of the living people who've served as POTUS, he's the only one not in his 80s!

At a certain point, you just have to overrule this kind of thing. The central government needs to take it out of their hands.
Celebrating blocking a low-cost grocery store that provides both jobs and essential goods, after a relentless 4-year campaign, is simply unnaceptable.

A larger proportion of British people eat curry at least once a month than eat roast dinners.
Total globalist victory.

While Brits are most likely to name fish and chips the UK's national dish, only 35% eat it at least once a month - compared to 52% for roast dinners
While only 21% eat a chicken tikka masala at least once a month, this rises to 52% for all forms of curry

The most plausible answers are just that:
1. Article V can be used to amend itself, possibly to amend away all republican structures within the Constitution, save "equal suffrage in the Senate." This is debated.
2. You can just admit new states, theoretically unlimited numbers.

Polanski did work for the Greens. They've surged over the past year, even if Starmer did much of the heavy lifting. Membership and polling soared.
But now he's deeply unpopular, polling is falling, and he just lost a Westminster election. Hard to see a future for him as leader.

🧵Tracking latest forced choice PM heads to heads
🌹Burnham wins handily against all alternatives, closest but still clear against Badenoch, overwhelmingly against Polanski.
🌳Badenoch beats the other 4 leaders.
➡️Farage only wins against Polanski
🌍Polanski now loses all of above Farage/Polanski but caveat of much lower name recognition.

Having an affair is unbearably selfish. I would never and will not ever cheat. I know it's quite normalized today, but it's really repugnant in every sense of the word. We dismiss it too casually.
