Shop Pay at *any* online store?
Check out anywhere with Shop Pay
Today, we’re expanding our partnership with @Shopify beyond finding, buying and tracking orders from Shopify stores. Now, your Instinct can use Shop Pay at any online store.
The card and address you've already saved in Shop Pay now work across hopify, too. This makes it easy for your Instinct to make secure purchases on your behalf.
You approve every purchase in Shop Pay, and your card details never leave Shop Pay.

It’s a huge superpower to be able to see the whole commerce ecosystem beyond a single transaction. Less fraud for merchants AND better experience for buyers.

Very convinced that in the age of AI the value of a human brain may be its ability to subconsciously forget and filter out superfluous information.
Maybe taste is just the ability to ignore stuff.

Just got through my first week of expenses on @tryramp.
Fuck.
I didn’t want it to live up to the hype. I am allergic to hype. But it *is* that much better.

AI doesn’t have to be slop.
Most talk about taste. Cash App design executes it.
Truly an elite team.

Few asked. Yes, all our assets for @CashApp tags are AI generated.
That doesn’t mean it’s easy. Or one-shotted though.
We invest a ton in art direction, make each one a unique world, test way more concepts and even build characters based on our team’s likeness.
The fun part is rder stuff.
Ideas that would have been prohibitively expensive go live in weeks.

I’m IRL for my first week @Shopify! A few things stand out:
- Entrepreneurs are heroes; everyone who works here believes it deeply
- Everyone is technical; security ops, sales, real estate folks are all in technical sessions with me
- Team is global, well-travelled, and diverse; function
- Ambition is massive at every level and speed is the default
- @tobi is pure energy and has an infectious zest for life
I simply can’t wait to start shipping for this amazing mission. 🛍️🛒💳💜

I just got an oat milk latte and a maple dip donut from Tim Horton’s in downtown Ottawa and it cost US$4.41. No ask for a tip.

The great @ajambrosino taught me how to do this. Sometimes it backfires. But if you have real conviction, and your history of execution has built trust, and you use it sparingly, it’s powerful.
Ask me how we got our first bank partnership at Catch.
Ask me how we got our first bank partnership at Catch.
I call this the diva's paradox
if you tell your manager you have complete conviction in an idea, and they tell you "no," and your response is anything OTHER than leaving the company to do it yourself, you are signaling to them that you don't actually have conviction in the idea. if you're not willing to bet your career on the idea, why should they?
but then if you DO quit to pursue the idea yourself, your manager will get the message that they should take the idea seriously, but it's too late, you've already quit
so you need a way to credibly signal that you have a burn-it-all-down level of conviction in your idea without actually quitting

No, I’m not at M2020 this year. Yes, I’m missing my pals in Vegas.
HOWEVER, I am very excited to see all the builders in sunny San Diego for Fintech Nerdcon next month.
Stay hydrated, my friends. Lots to build.

Amazing encapsulation of @ajambrosino.
One time a waiter in Palo Alto thought Andrew *was* BJ Novak and Andrew just let it ride. Never corrected him.
Great piece @danshipper.

Codex is one of the most important untold stories in the history of technology.
A year ago, it was a scrappy effort in a quiet corner of @OpenAI. Its cloud product hadn’t found PMF, and the team was starting over from scratch.
Less than 12 months later:
- Codex swallowed the p app from the inside (it literally runs as com.openai.codex on your Mac)
- Codex and ChatGPT for Work hit 40M+ weekly users across engineering and knowledge work
- Its leader @thsottiaux was elevated to run all of OpenAI’s core products, including ChatGPT, Codex, and the API
How did they pull it off?
They trained their own dedicated model line, separate from ChatGPT, with researchers and product builders sitting on the same team
They built four different products in a single year (cloud → terminal → IDE sidebar → a desktop app with no code editor at all) as every model leap made a new form factor possible
They used Codex to build Codex—so a handful of people could prove a new product in weeks instead of arguing for it in meetings
I had a front-row seat to the whole arc—from their failed Cloud launch, to OpenAI’s offices the night before GPT-5 dropped, to the day Codex took over ChatGPT.
And I spent months interviewing @gdb, @thsottiaux, @embirico, @mia_glaese, @aambrosino, and @edbayes to get inside how it all went down.
Here is the full, behind-closed-doors story of the team that remade OpenAI:

We’re pushing the boundaries of how stories like this are told.
This piece is completely agent-native—designed to be read alongside your agent inside ChatGPT’s in-app browser:
- Every interview transcript is included in full: Click any quote and you (or your agent) can see the exact conversation it came from.
- Built for your agent to explore: Ask your agent to pull out product lessons for your team, cross-examine the transcripts, or find insights I missed when writing the piece.
It’s a story about the future of software—built to be read with an agent:

Guys. It’s a joke. You’re all taking this way too seriously. Sometimes life is just about having a laugh. The whole thing was meant to be funny.

New gig starts Monday. I’m excited, nervous, and feeling humble. Especially while the team is on such a tear right now.

Twenty years ago I was drugged at a bar while studying abroad in Argentina. I ended up alone with a male classmate who sat next to me until sunrise while I slept it off in the booth of a 24hr diner.
Some men are beyond decent. It mattered a lot. Thanks, Devin.

Shopify merchant I love: Kizik. Found these when I was pregnant in 2022. Not having to bend down to tie shoes was magical. Even now, my hands are always full of stuff. Best comfy sneaks with a sense of style. Pop on pop off by design. Vegas2 is my go to.
