Wharton researchers gave nearly 1,000 high school math students access to ChatGPT during practice problems

Result: chatGPT is the perfect trap.

Look at the red bars.

Students with ChatGPT crushed their practice sessions.

The basic ChatGPT group solved more problems and those did even more.

Now look at the gray bars. That's the exam.

No AI allowed.

The ChatGPT group scored 17% worse than kids who practiced with zero technology.

And the fancy tutor version?
No better than working alone.

The researchers called AI a "crutch."

When they analyzed what students actually typed into ChatGPT, most of them just wrote - “What’s the answer?”

The kicker: students who used ChatGPT believed it hadn't hurt their learning.

They were confidently wrong.

This is the AI trap in education.

Outsourcing your thinking.

Of course, lots of half-baked AI literacy curricula being rolled out in schools now

Let’s of course ignore that basic literacy (the ability to read) is possible for <50% of 8th graders

The "10x AI Developer" is a MASSIVE lie.

You are just a 1x Developer generating 10x the technical debt.

The entire tech industry is high on the illusion of "vibe coding" right now. The popular consensus is that because Claude and Devin can spin up a backend in 45 seconds, software is now infinitely cheaper to build.

Here is the provocative reality nobody is budgeting for: AI is about to make software engineering significantly MORE expensive.
Everyone is cheering for code generation, but completely ignoring the Verification Tax.

When an AI agent writes 5,000 lines of code, it is optimizing to pass the immediate test. It is not optimizing for human readability. It relies on brute-force loops, repetitive logic, and bizarre architectural shortcuts that just happen to compile.
Fast forward 12 months. Your business needs to pivot, or a core dependency breaks.

You are now staring at a 50,000-line black box that no human being actually wrote, understands, or can safely modify. You cannot simply "prompt" your way out of architectural collapse.

When the machine-generated spaghetti finally breaks, you won't be saved by a $20/month LLM subscription. You will have to hire a top-tier Principal Engineer at absolute premium rates just to untangle the mess your "autonomous swarm" created.

We are treating code generation as a pure productivity win, but code is a liability, not an asset.

Stop measuring how fast your team can generate syntax. Start measuring how quickly they can debug it.

Teaching proper AI literacy in school is more imperative than teaching proper internet sourcing was 20 years ago. It is existential.
Wharton’s latest AI study points to a hard truth: “AI writes, humans review” model is breaking down

Why "just review the AI output" doesn't work anymore, our brains literally give up.

We have started doing "Cognitive Surrender" to AI - Wharton’s latest AI study points to a hard put is not a reliable safeguard when cognition itself starts to defer to the machine.when you stop verifying what the AI tells you, and you don't even realize you stopped. It's different from offloading, like using a calculator.

With offloading you know the tool did the work. With surrender, your brain recodes the AI's answer as YOUR judgment. You genuinely believe you thought it through yourself.

Says AI is becoming a 3rd thinking system, and people often trust it too easily.

You know Kahneman's System 1 (fast intuition) and System 2 (slow analysis)? They're saying AI is now System 3, an external cognitive system that operates outside your brain. And when you use it enough, something happens that they call Cognitive Surrender.

Cognitive surrender is trickier: AI gives an answer, you stop really questioning it, and your brain starts treating that output as your own conclusion. It does not feel outsourced. It feels self-generated.

The data makes it hard to brush off. Across 3 preregistered studies with 1,372 participants and 9,593 trials, people turned to AI on over 50% of questions.

In Study 1, when AI was correct, people followed it 92.7% of the time. When it was wrong, they still followed it 79.8% of the time.

Without AI, baseline accuracy was 45.8%. With correct AI, it jumped to 71.0%. With incorrect AI, it dropped to 31.5%, worse than having no AI. Access to AI also boosted confidence by 11.7 percentage points, even when the answers were wrong.

Human review is supposed to be the safety net. But this research suggests the safety net has a hole in it: people do not just miss bad AI output; they become more confident in it.

Time pressure did not eliminate the effect. Incentives and feedback reduced it but did not remove it. And the people most resistant tended to score higher on fluid intelligence and need for cognition. That makes this feel less like a laziness problem and more like a cognitive architecture problem.

I BUILT MY OWN AGENTIC AI CLINICAL SCRIBE.. in 3 hours

Los Angeles, 27 February 2026 -

Alone in my LA apartment after work — sparkling lemon soda in hand, jazz drifting softly through the room, warm lights casting a mellow glow. It sounds like the opening scene of a romance.

It isn’t (🫤)

Instead, I was building my own AI clinical scribe ..in 3 hours (believe me..not flexing, just amazed) ~90% section accuracy so far and fully functioning. I’m a physician, not a coder — just driven by curiosity and a deep belief that we can do better. It’s honestly incredible how accessible this technology has become… and how many lives (providers and patients) it is going to impact

The potential to truly democratize medicine feels tangible like never before.

Accessibility to this tool is no longer an issue. This isn’t hype or empty talk — this is real, and it’s happening right now. This is going to contribute to SAVE healthcare from its modern crisis. Period.

I want to share this on social media — not to show off, but as a proof of concept and as a physician who is genuinely amazed. I can barely keep my feet on the ground, overwhelmed by the magnitude of the historic moment we’re experiencing in medicine.. If I can understand it, you can too!

As healthcare workforce we MUST understand the potentials (and risks of course) of this revolution

It reminds me of the words from the book that changed my vision of medicine forever by @EricTopol “Make Healthcare Human Again.”

We’re living in the future

[disclaimer: these was build only for a research purpose. Of course, HIPAA/GDPR and other compliance validation is required, I am very aware about it (local host only, research/testing on myself… I am my own patient… the most difficult patient ever btw ), Nothing about this is casual — AI in healthcare must be built, tested, validated, and governed carefully, with safety and privacy first]

OR. Do TP without antibiotics
Rectal Swab–based Targeted Prophylactic Antibiotics Reduce Infectious Complications After Transrectal Prostate Biopsy

sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

In this systematic review and meta-analysis of nine randomized controlled trials including 3,002 patients, the use of targeted s (TPAs) based on rectal swab cultures before transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy (TRUS-PB) was associated with a significant reduction in postbiopsy febrile urinary tract infections compared with empiric antibiotic prophylaxis (2.7% vs 5.2%; risk ratio 0.54, p = 0.003). The number needed to treat to prevent one febrile infection was 40. However, no significant difference was observed in the incidence of sepsis between the two groups.

These findings support incorporating rectal swab–guided antibiotic selection into prebiopsy protocols to reduce infection risk in patients undergoing TRUS-PB, though further research is warranted to clarify its impact on sepsis prevention. #ProstateCancer
