@dneighbors i can dislike elon and also point out that tesla has no design taste left whatsoever

the cybertruck is the worst looking vehicle on the road. literally the worst. id take a smart car over it.

the roadster isnt much better

@aboodman yeah i just dont think anything changes here because the number of things that can go wrong via bytecode changes is large, and again, opening that door opens up another large vector of attacks

im sure a lot of the fortune 500 already do byte code patching, but likely not live

@aboodman it doesnt, but it blocks network attacks, which are the primary concern you're protecting against

@aboodman i doubt it

you're better off shipping middleware for most of these things, which is what people already do

@aboodman this has been possible for years but its more trouble than its worth generally speaking

1) the code paths arent the same
2) best practices > hopeful magic fix-alls
3) changing byte code on the fly fucks with all forms of compliance

@overlandmaniac It’s an SUV dude. Not every (any?) SUV is built to go fuck around and drive on trails instead of using your feet.

@bheemreddy181 @aarondelasy Considered it but I prefer to avoid supporting companies that don’t align with my values and even outside of that the Rivian is much nicer from non-tech angles

@marco_ancona If the email was “yep” that’d be fine. How many of those do you see a day? What you see is mostly relationship, story telling, feedback, and other human to human behavior

more than ever before I see laziness

@drewhamlett I think we all have enough respect and care that it’s not really a problem. It’s happened once in a while and we’ve directly addressed it.
