Today we announced Open USD together with Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase, BlackRock, BBVA, Shopify, DoorDash, and 140+ other partners.

Much like the mobile industry needed Android, financial services needs Open USD to scale stablecoin adoption.

The stablecoin space has come a long way since we started Bridge nearly 5 years ago. Total volume is now approaching that of the ACH network and nearly every major financial institution from banks to fintechs is leaning in.

But cost and governance have limited utility and put core payments use cases out of reach. Businesses need a stablecoin that's open, low-cost, high-throughput, broadly accessible, and aligned to their interests.

We'll be launching later this year.

with web and mobile, encumbent distribution was limited. the new platform created a new distribution paradigm.

ai is mostly leveraging pre-existing distribution (from messaging to b2b)

likely explains the material startup application layer challenges

anything interesting quickly gets packaged and distributed by incumbents.

conversely w the web or mobile, you not only needed the feature, but also had to acquire the users (which is far harder)

today more or less every potential user is already served

genius gave businesses the confidence to lean into stables. The OCC's final rules give them the green light to scale.

We've long believed stablecoins would be core money movement infrastructure. Clear regulatory guidance is a critical precondition.

Excited for the stablecoin (and @openstandard) takeoff

thank you @USComptroller
At the @USOCC, we have worked diligently and expeditiously to deliver the GENIUS Act final rule ahead of schedule to support President Trump's vision and @SecScottBessent's leadership to grow the economy and lead the global digital currency revolution.

Today marks the birth of a new industry having a federal framework for payment stablecoins in the digital age. It also brings us back to our original mission when the OCC was charged with the responsibility for organizing and administering a system of nationally chartered banks and a uniform national currency.

a few thoughts on ai tooling and the implications for companies / people based on this crm experience:

“we shape our tools and thereafter our tools shape us” - mcluhan

- structuring data was hard. so we historically adjusted our workflows to meet the needs of our tools. recruiting, task mgmt, crm, etc systems are great examples.

- ai is excellent at structuring unstructured data. and humans hate conforming to these tools.

- so the old way of working will likely fade away. after all, you improve efficiency AND structured data accuracy.

- we’ll be able to work very organically. ai will take our chaotic notes from slack, meetings, etc and turn them all into highly organized systems.

- for the first time in our lives, the tool will be shaped by its users, not the other way around

- this means that tools will be highly customized for each company and organization

- and as a result companies will become much more variable.

- historically companies were mostly the same (yes different ppl but highly similar processes). Companies (esp in tech) used the same tools and therefore had very similar operations.

- these internal tools will become core ip for every organization.

- now two companies can and will be wildly different. You see this already between ai native and non native orgs. The learning curve will be phenomenally steep.

- this gulf is going to be hardest between those fully adopting ai today and those lagging behind. In two years, it might be very hard for someone to move from Big Old Co A to New AI Co B. The time to onboard alone might deter these hires.

- I can already feel this dynamic occurring in engineering. but it’s going to massively accelerate and impact all functions.

- a lot of the systems that kept people and companies somewhat bounded are now falling away.
i was completely wrong. just built a new crm for OS. artifacts / canvas + connectors make deploying /
maintaining trivial.

also turns out the best crm api is the firehouse of unstructured data in slack and notes. likely true for many many more applications.

anyone who has vibe coded anything knows that 99% of people (and companies) will not be vibe coding all of their software

i end almost every voice prompt with "thank you". i think thats because ive spent my whole life working w humans. so i treat an agent like a colleague. i fear the day when we treat our colleagues like agents.

ousd will be the most accessible and *useful* stablecoin in the world. millions of global merchants and developers can now receive, store and pay w ousd. and we’re adding dozens of new network partners every week.
1/ @stripe Treasury now uses OUSD on @tempo as the default stablecoin asset for US businesses, making it easier to hold and move money across fiat and crypto.

Businesses can convert between OUSD and USD, EUR, or GBP without leaving Stripe.

i love buying things w muse, instinct, etc. however, over the last few weeks I’ve been getting an ungodly amount of spam. just now realizing that these agents must be checking to receive marketing emails … which is, needless to say, incredibly annoying

increasingly an agent can do anything I ask it to do. build a forecast, do research, change a website, etc

so banking and consulting will be decreasingly helpful training grounds. we need fewer blind executers. and many more finders-of-problems and discoverers-of-solutions

I first met @zcabrams when he was building Bridge and later at Stripe, and now he is launching OUSD, which we are proud to be a day-one partner of. What a remarkable journey in such a short time, and I am looking forward to continuing to work together. Congratulations!
Securitize is proud to join the OUSD ecosystem as an @openstandard Network Partner.

OUSD is a USD-backed stablecoin built for onchain finance.

We will help expand access across our ecosystem to support the continued growth of more efficient onchain financial infrastructure.

Good to see Open Standard taking a new approach to shared governance for programmable dollars.

In the early days of USDC, shared governance was part of our plan at Circle. Working with colleagues at Coinbase, we started deliberately small so we could make decisions quickly, intending to bring more partners into its governance over time.

USDC ultimately took a different path and became an enormous success under Circle. In this new, post-GENIUS Act era, it’s encouraging to see Open Standard take a renewed approach to a broader governance model for US dollar stablecoins.

Glad @catena_labs supports $OUSD alongside USDC. Congrats @zcabrams and team.

I’m leaving stripe to run Open Standard full time.

at bridge, we made stablecoins more accessible. but our impact was constrained by issuers' economics and incentives.

The world needs better money. we hope to remove these constraints.
