⚡Emerald AI is transforming AI data centers into flexible grid allies to unlock 100+GW of power for AI while protecting energy affordability and reliability for local communities. After 18 months of demonstrations—across five data centers all over the world—we've entered our commercial scaling phase and are now deployed at multi-MW, full data center scale with customers spanning the world's biggest AI pioneers, global data center platforms, and leading power utilities. We're proud to collaborate with @NVIDIA, @Digitalrealty, @EPRINews, and others to launch the world's first power-flexible AI Factory—roughly 100MW in Manassas, Virginia—later this year, creating the blueprint for a new generation of flexible DSX AI infrastructure that will be good citizens to power grids and local communities. We're also honored to partner with @SantaClaraPower on the nation's first Flexible Load Interconnection Program (FLIP) to provide additional power capacity to flexible AI data centers.

🤝We are so grateful to our incredible consortium of investors, co-led by @EnergizeCapital and @DCVC, as well as to the extraordinary syndicate of leading global financial and strategic investors. Emerald now counts 12 Fortune 500 Global companies as our investors. Many thanks to Series A investors including @NVIDIA, @SamsungVentures, @aramcoventures, @Siemens, @SalesforceVC, @GEVernova, @RWE_AG, @jeraventures, @ADI_News Ventures, @SabanciHolding, In-Q-Tel, @radicalvcfund, @EnergyImpact_, @lowercarbon, Marunouchi Innovation Partners, @EmCollective, @johndoerr, The Olayan Group, The Temerty Group, @EarthshotVC, @collectiveGBL, General Catalyst's scout fund, and others.

🚀This funding will be instrumental as we rapidly scale commercially across the United States and around the world. Our vision is simple: secure larger and faster power connections for AI while making sure AI gives back to the communities that host it. At Emerald AI, we believe that the biggest new user of electricity—AI data centers—can also be the grid's greatest ally, and a boon for local communities by protecting energy affordability and reliability. Thank you to all of our customers, partners, investors, and our incredible team (grateful to the leadership team pictured below Ayse Coskun Mansi Shah Aroon Vijaykar Shayan Sengupta as well as to the whole fantastic team)—this has already been the journey of a lifetime, and we're just getting started

Not only did this obviously racist play not work, it backfired spectacularly.
I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.

📢Calling regulatory experts for an exciting new opportunity—come join the AEMA!
High-impact job opportunity at the intersection of AI and energy:

The AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA) is seeking a Senior Director or Director of Energy Markets & Regulatory Policy to help lead the organization's policy development, regulatory engagement, and market and regulatory analysis. The position provides an opportunity to work directly with leading AI and energy companies -- including AEMA's @Google, @nvidia, @AnthropicAI, and @EmeraldAi_ -- on some of the most consequential electricity policy issues facing the industry.

The Director will focus on electricity market rules, regulatory proceedings, and policy decisions affecting data centers and other large electricity customers. Key areas of responsibility include large-load interconnection, wholesale electricity markets, demand flexibility, grid reliability, and electricity affordability.

Congrats to our advisor @JesseJenkins on a fantastic profile in @FastCompany of Firma Power!
Utilities are rushing to add supply for an unprecedented wave of new large loads. Many now let large customers bring their own capacity, so new load connects sooner and existing customers are protected from rate impacts. Bring-your-own-capacity (BYOC) rules have rapidly gone from now the fastest path to reliable grid power.

Firma Power is the Bring Your Own Capacity company. We're the first company purpose-built to the deliver portfolios of clean, quiet, load-enabling power over the wires to meet utility BYOC requirements and get data centers connected faster, simpler and cheaper than alternatives like behind-the-meter gas.

And this week, we're featured in @FastCompany , in an excellent profile written by @adele_peters:

"The U.S. is on track to add a record 86 gigawatts of new wind, solar, and battery storage capacity this year—roughly the size of the U.K.’s entire grid. And there’s far more clean energy in the pipeline, with low-cost proposed projects that could help meet the surging demand from data centers. So why are data centers increasingly turning to polluting gas plants instead of clean energy?

A startup called Firma Power says that the issue isn’t cost, speed, or reliability, but the difficulty of assembling enough clean energy from a patchwork of projects—a problem that it is trying to solve.

Securing enough reliable, clean electricity for a massive new data center is complex. But Firma’s software calculates what a proposed data center needs, and then automatically searches through proposed clean energy projects to suggest a portfolio that could support it. An analysis that might otherwise take a team months can now take minutes. Firma then does the hard work of pulling all of the clean energy projects together, and data center developers can sign a single contract.

The company says that the process can get data centers power faster than building new gas-fired power plants—and it can compete on cost. And at a time when Americans really don’t like data centers, using clean power could make it more feasible for some projects to be greenlit by communities."

Thank you @Jason for having me on the show!
Data centers can't get on the grid fast enough. @vsiv fix: make them flexible loads that dial power down when the grid is stressed.

His company, Emerald AI, just raised $150M at a $1.05B valuation, and Nvidia is deploying it at its 96MW site in Virginia.

📝Understand AI power flexibility with the new The Brattle Group report commissioned by @Google: shorturl.at/GdgPS

🤝We're all committed to advancing flexible AI data centers that are good citizens on the power grid and to local communities. The AEMA will champion policies to reward flexible data centers that promote energy affordability and reliability with faster and larger connections to the power grid. Together, we can secure a triple win: (1) accelerating AI innovation and competitiveness as we unlock 100GW of power on America's existing grid for flexible AI data centers; (2) curbing energy bills for local communities by better utilizing the grid we already have; and (3) bolstering the reliability of the power grid as flexible AI data centers respond during peak grid stress and support more reliable power for neighborhoods, factories, and hospitals.

🙏Grateful to our fantastic partners at @Google (shoutout to my friend @tylerhnorris for your leadership and landmark Duke University paper uncovering the 100GW opportunity for flexible AI!) and @NVIDIA (deeply grateful for the leadership of Josh Parker, a champion of AI for Good, Vladimir Troy, leader of the AI and Energy DSX Ecosystem, and Levi Patterson and Nicole Weinrauch, whose leadership has shaped the AEMA). Frank Lacey, Isaac Brown, and Lauren Culbertson Grieco are incredible leaders running the AEMA organization. And our Emerald team led by Michael Panfil with Swasti Jain Ermek D. who did so much heavy lifting.
