What an amazing resource for anyone interested in robotics!
For years, I've been looking for a textbook that covers the fundamentals of robot autonomy. For my robotics course at @Princeton, I used a mishmash of different textbooks for motion planning, feedback control, SLAM, and robot learning.
The new book Principles of Robot Autonomy from @drmapavone, @DanieleGammelli, Joseph Lorenzetti,
@katielulula, and @GioeleZardini is incredible! It goes all the way from the foundations of planning, control, and SLAM, to modern robot learning (imitation + RL).
I am using this as the primary reference textbook for my Intro to Robotics course at Princeton.

Ever wondered what it’s like to learn robot autonomy @Stanford? Now you can.
Today, we’re opening up the robot autonomy teaching materials that my collaborators and I have been developing over the past several years—for anyone, anywhere, completely free.
At the heart of this Robot Autonomy (PoRA), a textbook inspired by the Stanford robot autonomy course series I’ve been teaching since 2017.
Robot autonomy has evolved from a research discipline into a technology deployed in the real world. Building capable autonomous systems requires more than understanding individual algorithms: it requires understanding how perception, state estimation, planning, control, and learning work together in a complete autonomy stack.
That’s what we set out to teach with PoRA: bringing classical robotics and modern AI together in one coherent framework, grounded in both theory and practice.
Coming soon in print from Cambridge University Press, Principles of Robot Autonomy is also freely available online and comes with a comprehensive collection of open educational resources:
📖 Textbook, arxiv.org/abs/2608.03496 — Foundations of robot autonomy, from classical methods to modern AI-based approaches.
🎥 Video lectures, porabook.com/lectures/ Lectures from my Stanford courses on robot autonomy and on optimal and learning-based control.
💻 Interactive exercises, porabook.com/exercises/ — Hands-on Python implementations and Jupyter notebooks.
📝 Teaching materials, porabook.com/instructors/ — Lecture slides and resources for instructors.
🌐 Explore all PoRA resources, porabook.com — Including Ask the Book, an AI study assistant integrated throughout the textbook to answer questions, explain derivations, and connect ideas across chapters.
📣 Read the Stanford announcement: news.stanford.edu/stories/2026/1…
Our goal is simple: to make high-quality education in robot autonomy accessible to students, researchers, engineers, educators, and anyone curious about how autonomous robotic systems work.
I believe that sharing knowledge is fundamental to the mission of a university. Autonomous robotics—and Physical AI more broadly—are among the defining technological frontiers of our time. We want to help more people understand these technologies, build with them, and advance the field.
A huge thank you to my co-authors, @DanieleGammelli, Joseph Lorenzetti, @katielulula, and @GioeleZardini, and to everyone who helped bring this project to life.
Explore the resources, use them in your own learning or teaching, and please share them with anyone who might find them useful!

Foundry has acquired @AveaRobotics.
@aryind_ and @vikramvadrevu are deeply technical and customer-obsessed and working together (as an early customer) was easy.
Data collection and inference at scale power our factories and that makes Avea a natural fit.
Welcome aboard!

Super excited to talk robots here. Looking forward to it @claudeai!
Claude Founder House is coming to SF Tech Week (Oct 6–8) and Stockholm (Oct 14).
Come for talks, workshops, and office hours with our team, plus time to meet others building with Claude. Whether you're a founder, a CEO, or a builder, there's a session for you.

🚨 BREAKING: Super excited to announce we're deploying the world's fastest inference with @Cerebras.
Talk to any developer and they're excited to build with 20x faster AI... the problem is there's almost no compute available.
We're here to solve that.
Using GPUs for prefill - e than ever too.
Thank you to the whole Cerebras team and excited to grow this partnership.
First tokens live Q127 🚀

Wafer beat Cerebras on latency for @ycombinator's AI Office Hours.
GLM-5.2 on Wafer averaged 379 ms versus 674 ms for Gemma 4 31B on Cerebras.
that's 44% lower latency with a much larger model.
YC wanted people to get startup advice from AI versions of its partners at fter testing lightweight Gemma and OpenAI models, they moved to a dedicated Wafer endpoint.
Wafer agents tuned the serving setup for YC’s request rate, cache usage, and prompt and response lengths.
users spent 2.5 minutes longer talking to its AI partners on Wafer compared to other providers.

wafer has 30x'd revenue in three months by making LLMs go very fast.
we're serving 2 trillion tokens per month with seven people.
now we're growing the GTM team.
the job is outbound. calls, email, LinkedIn, and getting AI-native companies to put us in a bake-off against their der.
we win those.
we're faster than the biggest inference providers and we land 2-3x better performance per dollar.
If you've sold technical products in AI before and are comfortable engaging in technical conversations, we'd love to talk.
$85k base, $140k OTE, uncapped commission, plus equity. daily lunch and dinner, and $1k a month toward rent if you live within 0.5 miles of the office.
we'd rather promote you than hire over you, so you'd move into a closing role well within 6 months.

The best founders have clear founder-problem fit. Havi of Abby Care lived the problem firsthand when she helped file Medicaid benefits for her family as a child and experienced the complexities of the healthcare system. That and her later experience in tech led her to realize that technology could help family members become paid caregivers for their loved ones, when most were already dropping out of the workforce anyway. There are an estimated 59M family caregivers of adults in the US, mostly unpaid and working almost 50 billion hours - nearly $1T in wages. Abby Care is still early (they're only in 8 states out of the 37 that currently allow it), but the impact on families' lives is indisputable and we're excited to be their partner.
Havi Nguyen grew up managing Medicaid for her family while working at her parents’ nail salon. Now the Abby Care founder is helping others navigate America’s byzantine health care programs by using her AI-powered app to become paid caregivers for loved ones. forbes.com/sites/richardn…

Happy 250th birthday, America.
Today, I’m thinking about the enormous leap my parents took when they left their families and came to the United States to build a new life. My father arrived with just $5 in his pocket—and an extraordinary amount of optimism.
America has never been perfect, and the work of living up to its ideals is far from finished. But it remains a place where courage, grit, and an idea can change the course of a life.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been born here, and deeply grateful for the opportunities this country has given my family. On this anniversary, I’m also struck by the boldness of those who imagined a new form of government—and by the enduring power of the ideals they set in motion.
Happy 250th, America. 🇺🇸

I think someday soon, we'll look back on passports as a quaint nostalgia item. Already so many countries use electronic entries that passports are no longer the "complete compendium" of all the places I went.

we built the first sane way to debug your agent locally.
you can see your traces. codex/claude code can too. this lets them write evals and test your agents automatically.
best part: it's completely free and open source. install with 1 line.
