Mumbai I am in you on my @ETHGlobal SIM plan!
I’m leaving for the airport. Someone serve Trump camomile tea for the next 16 hours :)

We’re giving broad powers to manage public speech to a body that’s tried and failed to stop spam txt’s for 30 years 🙈
UK Ofcom's "crisis protocol" mandate kicked in yesterday.
To wit, when the British government determines a "crisis" is occurring, platforms have to censor their platforms more aggressively.
None of this is constitutionally permissible in America

@VitalikButerin just opened Devcon and set the tone for the week.
A formally verified OS, open silicon, self-sovereign healthtech, free discourse, private communication, trustworthy AI — these are all part of Ethereum's mission.

"We need to be able to trust our operating systems.
We need to be able to trust our hardware.
We need to be able to trust the things that are most relevant to our health.
We need to be able to trust our sources of information and connection to other people.
We need to be able to tools.
We need to be able to trust our AI.
What is the answer? We need to figure out together." - @VitalikButerin

Really sad I arrived to late for this one.
Note worthy we’ve had really big hacks but they’re shifting from DeFi to wallets and CEXs.

How can DeFi fund security beyond individual projects? @griffgreen explores shared security funding at DSS 2026.

So the Feds just attributed on a fucking Saturday and explicitly called out some folks.
FWIW every official attribution like this has been historically followed by cases and/or more sanctions against services.

Devcon is for the builders.
It's sad to see people start declaring Devcon dead days before it even starts. It isn't in NYC & it isn't, and has never been, focused heavily on institutions and "where the money is". Other conferences fill that gap. Let Devcon do what it's best at.

Why so much hate on devcon and India?
EF has always been about the community - the devs, the grassrootes, the banking the unbanked vision. And they've been pretty clear - they don't want to "keep up with the times" and give that up to build a business. They are very consistently true to their values, no one should be surprised.
India is a huge country with a large blockchain community and is a major, well-connected regional hub. It's a perfectly suitable place for one of the devcons.

Strange to imagine @binance not having the resources for this though. I've done it with my own clients several times.
@huvoliveira @griffgreen I'm a very strong believer in segmenting and isolating functions, but it's so hard to persuade people of that!

quick ones
1) Binance has enough to withstand 3-4x of current hit and still be largely intact. Very likely they will shrug this off and user funds are very likely safu (but like obviously don’t deposit until they sort out what went wrong)
2) Wintermute obv has exposure to binance, but less than 20% of net equity and I don’t see any disruption to our operations on any time horizon in whatever scenario

Although I disagree with the conclusion, there are some fair points in this.
I wrote a longer-form piece about the Binance hack and what it teaches us about regulation: bettermarkets.substack.com/p/learning-the…
