The yellow linoleum table top seemed to have the speckled dreams of lost campaigns seeping into my corned beef hash and eggs over easy. Being on the road takes me to all kinds of places. The Hamburg Inn has slung a lot of hash and bullshit from the make a run through the heartland. With just a few weeks away from the next American political plot twist it only felt right to summon the great and powerful Oz himself, President Reagan. We parked our opinions at the legendary spot. Thankfully the sunshine and great service provided by our lovely waitress dispersed the clouds of our contempt for the current situation. As our condemnation flowed freely so too did the coffee. I thought to myself about how many true believers versus the great song and dance men of history had sat right in my spot and promised the world as the egg stains on their tie tipped off the reporters that they weren’t serious about anything. We could feel the Clinton table on the other side of this glorious sanctum whisper sweet nothings hoping to distract us from the elevated price we were about to pay for the basics once again. My feed bled with conspiracies and corruption. My pal and I seriously tried to find something, anything positive before we started our day. The toast was dry and the coffee was hot. And that was it.

Be patient for the answers.
Every day there is a spark that ignites within us. A burning to seek what we desire. This feeling is compelled by the vastness of possibilities which compile our wishes into a pool of confusion. What do we want versus ot need more stuff. I do not need more views or likes. I do not need the generalized validation of random strangers. I need to have faith. Faith that I am living for something more important than a fleeting wealth. Faith in the people who I trust. Faith that my sacrifices are enough. Faith that my gratification comes in a time and place that is not grounded in the creations of men. It has taken a long time for me to understand these truths. And now, I feel this profound urgency to sow the seeds of these revelations. However, I recognize that it is not within my domain to ignite these truths to root in others. I must wait for them to grow themselves.
Be patient for the answers.

Experience makes us who we are? Or perhaps people we connect with makes us who we are? Most likely it’s a unique combination of both. And when I have the opportunity to effectively engage in this type of visceral introspection I am overwhelmed by the tions.
In the fall of 1990 I began my post graduate year at Choate in Connecticut. My dream to continue playing sports in college was fully dependent on my success at this historic school. When I arrived I quickly learned that the head football coach had recruited another quarterback. He was bigger, faster and more talented than I. When initially confronted by this revelation I was pissed and contemplated leaving. Thank God I didn’t. After being promised equal playing time by our coach we decided it would be worth sacrificing our own needs to participate on this incredible team. 8 PG’s and 12 returning seniors.
It was the best team I ever played on. We ended up winning the Class A New England Prep School Championship in the final few seconds of the championship game. It was exhilarating, suspenseful, and exuberant.
This past weekend was our 35th reunion. 3 - 5! Although I feel old as hell just knowing that, when we were all together it was glorious. We caught up, reminisced, and offered great interpretations of how meaningful the moment was. I am so grateful to have been part of that experience and those men.
I think about what might have happened if I choose to find another school and had the position all to myself I would have never had the opportunity to relive and revive that experience and those relationships. Sometimes if you make a choice that supports the greater good, you will be rewarded in ways that you cannot fathom in the moment. Choose wisely my friends.

As you grow older, you inevitably begin to notice the decline in your physical capabilities and the growing distance from your former abilities. Your memory begins to long for the exquisite details of your pipe-hitter past as that youthful clarity the one thing that still holds fast in your heart and soul is the proximity you maintain with the tribe you once served.
This past Friday, I was honored to be part of the @BlackRifleCoffee #ICBM event held in conjunction with @Staccato_Vegas. This past year I was welcomed into the BRCC family. @evanhafer and his team have graced my show, @drutherfordshow , with their committed sponsorship. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Evan, Matt, JT, Logan, and all the other amazing people who have helped them achieve something truly remarkable. They have created a profoundly unique and inspiring culture that combines heroic service with post-military life achievements. This eclectic posse blends the great ambitions of our past with the ever-present desire to continue serving in our own unique ways — a monumental and creative opportunity that never existed prior to the GWOT.
My favorite part of the experience was getting to meet so many epic human beings. I could write a huge post on every one of these exceptional men. I’m hopeful to be graced with an interview with each of them soon. What was so infectious was their humility and grace. They spoke of their legendary lives as a means to teach the wisdom gained from living as men and as warriors. They spoke of hardships and sacrifices. They paused to make each tale matter and always underscored the other great warriors in their lives, especially those no longer with us. I was moved beyond measure by all of them — especially the wisdom I received from my shooting partner that day, Medal of Honor recipient Earl Plumlee. Legend.
Thank you all for the time you shared with me. And once again, thank you Evan for allowing me to be a small part of this great tribe.

The more I contemplate the actions of those individuals and institutions that have built a system designed to serve themselves, the better I feel about our collective future.
I know what you’re thinking: “Rut, WTF are you talking about?” Allow me COVID and the Rocket Man bought Shitter, we’ve been peeling the biggest onion in history — layer after layer of carefully constructed lies designed to conceal the nefarious activities of those with the means and the moral relativism to carry them out. These people aren’t new. They’ve been around for a long time. All it takes is the courage to actually seek the truth.
I remember when I was a kid and thought the World Book Encyclopedia was the cornerstone of truth. Now the question is: how much longer will the masses allow themselves to be manipulated?
In honor of the 250th anniversary of our glorious revolution, I invite everyone to look up the Sugar Act of 1764 and the Proclamation of 1763, which prevented western expansion. Concord and Lexington happened on April 19, 1775 — after roughly ten years of rugged pioneers and colonists gradually getting fed up.
Fast forward to 2020. We were told by those who consider themselves above the rest of us that the “Great Reset” began that year, while another group of international elites continues to push “Agenda 2030.” Whether any of this is bullshit or not is something only you can decide — but only after doing some deep dives into public documents, financial statements, and economic investments. Follow the money. Who’s betting on what?
What “they” didn’t expect is that the first generation to grow up entirely on algorithms designed to numb independent thinking is starting to figure their shit out. And now that some platforms have been set free, they’re growing restless. This is making the powers that be far more nervous than you can imagine.
So they respond with more war, more debt, and more erosion of the Constitution (hello, FISA 702).
History is harsh and filled with thousands of dark periods. But many of those dark times are followed by brighter ones.

The older I get, and the more aware I become, the more the world seems insane. Nothing makes sense. Corruption, lies, and pedophilia have been normalized to the point of potential social collapse. Great cultures have been degraded oming unrecognizable.
Once again, a paradigm shift is taking place across our great country. Do not let your fears overwhelm your reality. We still possess the ability to endure. However, in order to stave off this vile, insidious rot of moral relativism, you must unlock your inner strength. What you must pull from deep inside your consciousness is your courage.
In order to keep hard times from making you compliant, let your courage rise to the forefront of your actions. You do not need to be highly trained in combatives or combat itself. All that is required is a deep sense of what you believe in: that there is a distinct difference between right and wrong, and that you are willing to speak truth to power. Live as those before you, who willingly sacrificed the comfort of compliance for the courage of conviction.

Often we feel trapped, down the dark hole of fear. Not knowing how or when you will emerge from the darkness. While we linger in this despair we become confused as to what direction to move. Lost as a result of the profound perplexities of different one way out, forward. Not just movement in a singular direction. Movement combined with the motivation that comes from making the righteous choice. To move towards the light. Whether you are beginning a seemingly impossible task, or have the fate of your world on your shoulders, choose the right path. The path imbued with both faith and courage. Because once you have reached the other side, God’s eternal light shall grace you forever.

What makes a good human being? I have been searching for this answer for longer than I can remember. I’ve looked through the lens of sports, the military, business, and as a person seeking the truths of life itself. A few things that draw me in to ed willingness to sacrifice for another are as follows. People that possess a realistic sense of themselves within the world around them. I fucking love funny people. Stupid humor, dark humor, witty jokes, slapstick humor, I love it all. There’s also something about the ability to offer open reflections of themselves as a way to teach me what I’m trying to understand. I’m enthralled by people who wield their intelligence with humility and confidence. And when I see a person who offers me acceptance and loves me freely even with all my flaws, it reminds me of what I am supposed to do to be saved. Today, I felt all those things. I am beyond blessed to know and love my friend, Jhan the Man. Happy Birthday my brother.

It becomes clear with the slightest bit of introspection that your world is in a state of perpetual flux. This awakening takes place just as soon as you can comprehend the inevitability of time’s pressure on all things. The clock to start doing always ready to begin. You control the beginning but never the end. In my humble opinion it’s the quintessential framework to shape our eternal realities. That is why it never ceases to amaze me that “New Years” ignites such an unrealistic but pivotal focus for so many people. Upon my deepest reflections I am continuously brought back to the reality which governs my motivations. That the most profound change we experience is a derivative of a conscious effort inspired by our own need to experience relative truth. When we are inspired to seek truth about ourselves, as in what we are made of, or what do we actually believe, and what we can ultimately become, change happens in real time. The truth is a vehicle to navigate growth. What do I intend to achieve this year? To spend more time trying to understand and develop a greater relationship with the truth about myself and the world around me.
