She could not protect her daughter from death. But she is determined to protect her dignity in death.
This brave mother is reportedly carrying the body of her daughter, killed by Houthi shelling in Taiz, Yemen.
With her daughter on her back, she walks a treacherous mountain lace where she can give her daughter a dignified burial.
I cannot imagine the weight she carries. Not just the body of her daughter, but the unbearable grief of a mother forced to make this journey.
She refuses to abandon her. She carries her with the same love with which she once carried her into life.
This is why we must stand with Taiz.
No mother should have to fight for her child’s dignity, even in death.

This 14 yr old boy Abdulaziz was missing, his family in al-Dhale #Yemen began looking for him since mid July. 10 days later they found his pic on a poster used by Houthis for their dead fighters. Houthis recruited him and sent him to fight in Marib where he was killed.
