Houthi Officer Calls Subjugating #Taiz “More Obligatory Than Prayer,” Battle “More Sacred” Than Palestine
A Houthi military officer has declared that subjugating Taiz takes precedence over Islamic prayer and described the battle as more sacred than the struggle for Palestine, ined offensive to capture the city.
In Facebook posts seen by Yemen Newsroom, Taher Ahmed Dhab’an, an officer from Amran Governorate, called taking Taiz “more obligatory than prayer” and described the campaign as “more important and sacred than the battle for Palestine.” He portrayed the city as a “gateway to liberating Palestine.”
Dhab’an urged Houthi commanders to launch an all-out assault resembling the campaigns that led to Amran’s fall in 2014 and former President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s killing in Sana’a in 2017. He described the delay in capturing Taiz as a serious mistake.
His remarks suggest growing frustration over the campaign as government forces, backed by popular resistance fighters and air support, continue to resist Houthi attempts to seize the city after roughly three weeks of siege and intensive attacks.
Field sources report exceptionally heavy Houthi casualties in clashes, ambushes and airstrikes, while the group has failed to achieve its objective of capturing Taiz.
