Men’s style discourse is just a constantly slow rotation between these two poles every 10 years.
You can see their is a pattern with the two fits

I know this is rage bait, but I could definitely imagine a person so impressed by a microwave that they throw away their oven and then when it comes time to roasting a chicken they’ve shot themselves in the foot
AI generated music is 1000x better than real music.

Today I canceled Spotify and SiriusXM because I finally tested Suno.

What sold me was the first prompt I gave it:

“My favorite artists are A Day to Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, Bad Omens, and Sleep Token.

Analyze all their hits and generate a song I’m likely to love based on those artists.”

It one shots an absolute banger in 10 seconds.

I'll link the song in the next tweet for anyone curious.

Why would I ever go back to Spotify/SiriusXM when I can generate music perfectly tailored to my taste on command, for free?

Not affiliated with Suno in any way btw, it was just one of those moments where I was so impressed with AI’s capability I had to say something about it.

Single serving, disposable websites are so hot right now. Great tool by the luminary @chanpory 👏🏼
Designers should be building their own tools. Love seeing @scspeier, Head of Design at Perplexity, make that case at @DoubleDiamondHQ's season opener.

2024: “why would I use 1Password when iOS passkeys exist”

2026: I am always betting on the underdog
Today we announce 1Password for Agents platform, building with companies @Muse, SpaceX Super Intelligence Grok @bot, @AnthropicAI’s @claudeai, @OpenAI, @TownAI, @browserbase, @browser_use, @heydana_ai, Instinct, @usekernel, @perplexity_ai, @tryramp, @tomo, and @wajo_ai, with e way. 🎉

We've heard from so many of our customers who want to use these new personal AI agents to help them get more done, but want more control over what the agent can access with the same trust and ease of use they get when using 1Password directly.

1Password for Agents gives your agents access without giving up your passwords. When an agent reaches a sign-in form, it requests a credential from your vault. If you approve the request, 1Password directly auto-fills the credential in the destination site so the agent can’t see or take possession of the credentials.

The agent gets the task done, but it doesn’t get your passwords..

You stay in control. 1Password for Agents free and optional for personal and family accounts. Unless you opt-in to an agent connector, agents cannot touch your vault.

In my @DoubleDiamondHQ talk last month, I spoke on how we are shifting from a 'thinker' mindset to a 'builder' mindset. Carpenters have been doing this since the dawn of time. I used a carpenter's pushrod as a metaphor for how we are designing for ourselves first, and it really people.
I used to liken product design most to architecture: the central challenge was directing people through a space within its constraints. Now, I see a closer parallel in carpentry. We increasingly build for ourselves, creating the jigs and tools that make both our work and our lives easier. It feels emblematic of a broader shift from a mentality of thinking to one of building.

Something I talked about at the @DoubleDiamondHQ season opener, which was a snippet from @_andychung and @DaisyDalHaeLee's talk at POV Budapest, is that many aesthetic waves are defined by the constraints of their tools. Which leads to a question we are asking everyday at he aesthetic future look like if we can define our own constraints?
a pattern i observe is that new (like REALLY NEW) aesthetics are usually residue of solving problems

eg. the iconic inktrap fonts became popular bc ink would pool in corners when printing on rough paper

Had a ton of fun talking about self-serve design tooling at @DoubleDiamondHQ's season opener. It's a great time to be a designer. Very proud to show off the myriad ways our design team works at Perplexity.
.@scspeier, Head of Design at @perplexity_ai, shares how his team uses their own product to build tools for themselves and shape new capabilities for Computer.

A big metric for success as a designer is when everyone wants to be a part of your story; eg quote tweets, replies. People are not just telling you that you did a great job, but they will legitimately feel fomo if they aren’t connected to it in some trivial way. @_darshi you crushed this, and this is a great example of showing your value to be a desirable hire rather than trying to connect with people to find an in-road.
Hi, it's Darshita. I am a designer.

And I'm pitching myself in public 'cause I'm done with a year full of anxiety.

Everyone says design is dead and AI killed it. But the real parasite was hiding in plain sight.

So here's my film, DESIGN IS DEAD. She's bold, fearless and very are open.

Has anyone done this to permanently remove motion smoothing from their parents’ tv yet?
Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon!

It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix.

Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher.

Looks like an Apple TV now lol

(1/6) Glad you’re here @hassanrahim. Yes your reaction is correct. The reason people suddenly want to talk about this is that the cost of production is at the floor. Now that we can will anything into existence with the new tools, the people with the best “taste” are seen as more valuable to organizations than they have ever been. The fallacy is that “taste” is being treated as a credential you can sell. But the fallacy is that “taste” now means something that can be sold and not something that is unique.
ok genuine question and i’m not being obtuse — what is the whole discourse around “taste” right now?

i’ve only ever worked in the creative industry so taste is literally a prerequisite, never really discussed bc you would otherwise not be in the room

so is this “taste” conversation happening bc the world is now run by engineers who are trying to “solve” creativity?

also what the fuck is a moat?

i’m sorry

(5/6) Two things for you to read:
Tasteslop by @khole_emily. This is basically the diagnosis. Her premise is that taste is social and contextual, and tasteslop is what happens when the markers get pulled out of that context and redeployed as tokens. It’s the LARP of good taste to signal that you’re valuable. x.com/khole_emily/st…

(6/6) “If You Want Taste, You’re Gonna Have to Eat” by @jxnlco. Ability is free now, attention is the bottleneck, and the only way to build taste is to go eat, try the thing on, learn the drummer’s name. x.com/jxnlco/status/…
