@politicalmath good luck with that (read this thread from the top, just linking last relevant reply) x.com/SilverVVulpes/…
@pavan99912 @immasiddtweets What makes iOS better that Android doesn't do? Mention differences, not adjectives

@SilverVVulpes That is a wild conversation. Do they think you are trolling them? How odd.

@politicalmath I thought the right. Roads are much more clear and the trees are very distracting. The point is navigation, not depicting everything on the side of the road.

@politicalmathbeing rhetorical, but the right one.
Good software doesn't just deliver the product, it knows the use case. The use case is trying to see the map while driving. The extra visual clutter makes quick interpretation difficult on the left. The right only shows information relevant to the driving.

@politicalmath Apple Maps has an objectively better aesthetic. Cleaner. Google Maps is cluttered.

@politicalmath The left shows you timing of both paths and makes it clear that you are going under an overpass.
The right you don't know if you should've switched to the 10 minute road and when you didn't those roads going over are going to make you think your gps is playing up.

@politicalmath I'm going with the one that gets me there in 10 minutes and shows the roads better without the cartoon trees.

@politicalmath Forget better. They seem to imply a completely different reality of which roads are overpasses and which are underpasses

@politicalmath Apple maps can only take you to an approximate location to the address you’re looking for.
Google will take you the wrong way through a roundabout.

@politicalmath Apple honestly looks better. Google gets more credit than it deserves. Too many times it auto switches to walking maps and sends me down a one way with a car. Not the same updates as now, but I’ll never forget it.

@politicalmath Both perfectly functional.
The Apple one risks cluttering the UI with unneeded details. Google's is simpler, which is probably better, especially when you're trying to see what the hell is going on while the sun is in your eyes.
I've no strong opinion on this one.

@politicalmath That part doesn’t matter. Apple Maps is much better at giving verbal directions. “Go past the next stop sign and take a right on x street” vs google telling you to turn right when you’re half way through the intersection

@politicalmath Waze is better than Google Maps, for two major reasons:
One, the timing of the voice guidance in Waze is noticably better than GM.
Two, when there is construction going on that changes the street layout, Waze updates faster than GM.

@politicalmath I was team Google Maps FOREVER while my husband used Apple Maps. Then on our way home from vacation two years in a row Google Maps fucked me over hard. Been Apple Maps ever since and she’s never done me dirty.

@politicalmath Based on what I’m seeing, I think he’s pointing out that the Apple Maps version has a 3D structure, thereby making it easier to see which ramp you’re supposed to take?

@politicalmathis native to your device is the better one. I just wish that the native browser on iPhone would default to using Apple Maps instead of Google Maps because if I look something up and get directions it tries to download the Google version when it should just open the default map program that’s already installed.

@politicalmath I use google and Apple maps routinely for work. I prefer Google Maps due to superior flexibility with alternative route options, better street view, having an aerial view option and generally being drastically better at estimating arrival times.
