לילה מעניין. בתוך כמה שעות, שני מועמדים שזכו לתמיכה של טראמפ הפסידו את הבחירות שלהם: בולסונרו (הבן) בברזיל והנשיא הכושל המושחת ווצ'יץ' בסרביה.
בחלון הזמנים הקטן בין התוצאות בסרביה לדרמה בברזיל, טראמפ פרסם עוד הודעה למען נתניהו. חצי כוח, האמת. הודעה חיוורת יותר מהקודמת, וכמובן מתחברת לדיווח של ברק רביד, שנתניהו מתחנן להתערבות נוספת של הנשיא בבחירות.
ראש ממשלה בישראל מתחנן על הברכיים שמנהיג זר יתערב בבחירות הדמוקרטיות של מדינת העם היהודי, כמו אחרון הקבצנים. לאיזה רמות של חולשה והשפלה האיש הזה הביא את המדינה שלנו, זה לא נתפס.

מחר נגלה כמה התערבות כזו שווה פה בישראל. ואחרי הבחירות נגלה מה נתניהו הנואש וחסר הבושה הבטיח לבית הלבן כדי לקבל אותה.

I said I wasn’t going to weigh in on who should be prime minister of Israel as that is a decision for Israeli citizens. I did, however, want to share one point of view from the perspective of someone who has an understanding of how Israel is perceived in America.
Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have caused Israel enormous reputational damage with their statements and actions which are presented in the global media as representing the voice and will of all Israelis.
As such, a government formed without Ben-Gvir and Smotrich will send a message to the rest of the world that Israel is turning a new page.
This will allow Israel to rebuild lost credibility, increase the opportunity for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and enjoy a better relationship with Democrats and Republicans and Americans at large.

What Netanyahu is doing here is wrong on so many levels, but I’ll focus on two:
First, his claim that Israel will be destroyed by Iran if he is not reelected is ridiculous. It is sad to see him resorting to the same old scare tactics, and even sadder that people continue to fall for them.
Second, if there were any doubts, this should raise serious questions about the warnings about an imminent Iran war in recent weeks. This is all about trying to influence the election. Netanyahu is turning Israel’s national security into an election tool. Exploiting a serious threat for political survival is irresponsible.

ההצעה של ראש הממשלה, לפיה ישראל תפעיל כלכלה שחורה בגלל סנקציות עתידיות, מעוררת חלחלה.
למעשה, בשבוע אחד נתניהו בישר לנו שבהמשך הדרך מחכים לנו גם אמברגו חימושים (ולכן הנחה להקים מפעלי תחמושת מתחת לאדמה), וגם בידוד כלכלי.
זו תחזית מעוררת אימה, וכזו שמחייבת דחייה על הסף.
מאיפה בדיוק נממן את הוצאות הביטחון הענקיות, אם ממתין לנו גל סנקציות? שלא לדבר על כך, שאף מדינה בעולם לא יכולה בעולמנו הגלובלי להסתדר לבד. אא"כ נעתיק את מודל צפון קוריאה למקרה שמישהו פה מעוניין ברעב המוני.
אכן, יש מגמות בעייתיות מבחינת מעמדנו המדיני. אך הדרך להתמודד איתן אינה התחפרות והסתגרות ("כלכלת סופר-ספרטה"), אלא ניהול מושכל של האינטרסים, חיזוק ידידים ומאבק על התודעה שנמצא רק בחיתוליו.
אם החזון שנתניהו מציע לנו ימים לפני הבחירות, הוא אמברגו נשק ובידוד כלכלי, הרי שזו הצעה גרועה מאוד.
לי אין ספק שנצח ישראל לא ישקר, ולכן אנחנו יכולים בהחלט לנווט את עצמנו בדרך הרבה יותר מוצלחת.

...לא פחות אשלייתי הוא להתעלם מהאנשים הרבים כל כך במערב שהעריצו את הישגיה של ישראל ואת מעמדה כדמוקרטיה היחידה במזרח התיכון — אך אינם יכולים לתמוך בישראל שבראשה עומד ראש ממשלה הדוחה את שלטון החוק ואת עקרון האיזונים והבלמים, ושנתן כוח בידי תאוקרטים וגזענים בממשלתו. (2/3)
