They've had this for years already
@cb_doge This platform will soon only have “dark mode”. It is better in every way.Community note

I've always loved this print by @daverss (I think he abandoned Twitter) which used a RNG to evoke digital corruption and naturally occurring complex systems like flocks of birds

Why do CRE folks talk so indirectly by referring to cap rates. If I follow this, interest rates 🔽 which means valuations go 🔼 which means cap rates go 🔽. But that middle step is not exactly guaranteed!
2 years later, treasury rates drop to 3%
You’re all excited. Not only did you initially get an IO, non-recourse loan at a fixed interest rate, but now interest rates have dropped, so cap rates have dropped as well
And when cap rates drop, real estate investors make a lot of $$

And also the point he's making is really about valuation. The gp in this scenario is sitting on a more valuable asset. Why talk obliquely about the cap rate when the literal thing (valuation) is easier to parse?

I mean also this is his response given the harshest criticism. Spoiler alert he don't care. His response btw is "engage in the substance" and at this point I'm not sure there is anyone on either side of pro/anti-matty that is gonna change their mind here
Listen until the end to hear how @mattyglesias responds to the sliiightest criticism of his occasional Twitter tone. 😳

Just over a year ago, I read a paper which showed that when private equity buys nursing homes, death rates go up 10%. I was a med student at Stanford, but I halted my studies to investigate. Today, that investigation was published in @NewYorker newyorker.com/news/dispatch/…

A million times this. Don't make me talk to a human if you sell software. Just take my credit card and let me use your product.
Frustrating experience from Mode at the startup pricing tier. I remember once at MP we were debating between using Stripe vs Braintree back when Stripe was very young but Braintree made us do a sales call and made it hard. So, we just used Stripe and never looked back.

Sofi's checking is identical with fewer maintenance reqs and a higher "tier 1" threshold. Tally offers lines of credit and has been around for years. Something tells me the investment product is gonna be similar knockoff with fewer benefits
A Not-So-Fun Fact:
Banks provide completely different services to rich people. They call it "Private Banking".
It's a combo of banking & private equity—access to private investments, better loans, etc.
That's what we're building at Swell...
...but for *everyone*.

Yep. Wind, sleet, acid rain, the works. Worst airport 0/10
@notcapnamerica Flying out of Burbank is terrible and you should never do it. No one reading this should fly out of Burbank. It's a teeny airport. And it rains there all the time. Stay away!
