Today marks the 25th anniversary of Apple introducing the first-generation iPod. To celebrate, Apple has hidden a fully functional iPod emulator on its Apple Music “Page Not Found” page.

Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who created Mario, Zelda, and other Nintendo classics, has received Japan's Order of Culture award.

It is the absolute highest honor an artist can receive in Japan, and a video game developer has never earned it. Until now.

Happy 38th anniversary to Super Mario Bros. 3!

Originally released in Japan on October 23, 1988, Super Mario Bros. 3 went on to become one of the most iconic games of the NES era.

With its huge world map, memorable power-ups like the Tanooki and Frog Suits, Koopalings, idden everywhere, Super Mario Bros. 3 felt absolutely massive when it first came out.

I personally spent more time with the remastered SNES version in Super Mario All-Stars, but there's still something special about going back to the original NES release.

38 years later, it's still one of the greatest games ever made.

"I'm so happy to win my fourth US Championship. This title is so hard to get, especially now with Fabi, Levon, and all those strong top GMs. With players switching federations, it's become a super strong event. Some years strongest national championship. I think it still is.

After yesterday's game, I didn't sleep well at all. I think I only slept for two or three hours. I was not in the mood to play today at all. But kudos to Sam. He had a very tough tournament, and I was shocked by how well he played.

I also played very badly. I think there were so many blunders in this tournament, and I'm very disappointed with my games, though I'm very happy I won. I don't think I deserve to win this year, but I'll take it, of course.

I think the quality of play was affected by how tired everyone was. It's been a long season, and Fabi and I were both extremely tired today. I'm happy I managed to pull through."
