saturday in marfa i’m debuting the worldʼs first piano that paints:
you put on a stethoscope, your heartbeat fills the room, i answer with polyrhythms on piano, and a brush paints our duet in ink for you to take home.
saint george hall, 11–3, one at a time, free (rsvp for luma.com/abmw2026)
press release: ericpan.org/pr/a-piano-tha…
thank you ben griffin + josephine pia wild, couldn’t have done it without you 💌

One of the highlights of today for me was @pandelic’s “a piano that paints” — what a fun and personal and thoughtful experience. Pictured, my wife’s heartbeat serving as input for a piece of generative music/plotting. SO cool!

Sooooo Marfa huh?
This year was one of intention.
I met some new best friends for the first time (@haydclay, @JLArtsphere, @UncleShalin)
I went to a true desert party and gave away 400+ pieces of merch (@nicedayJules)
I saw some of the most meaningful and thoughtful art I've elic, @summergwagner)
I laughed a LOT (@hawaiianft, @MaryPatBing, @NedRyersonBing, @RogerDickerman)
I got to hug some of my favorite people in the world (@danielkoeth, @VinnieHager (happy birthday btw), @oliviapedi, @TarainAbstract, @brynnalise_sc, @AlexKittoe, @Wim_HODL)
I got to have incredible, meaningful conversations (@Swickie, @egodead, @dotjiwa)
I was HONORED to have my work shown (@SteveMiller)
and I got to connect with so many others (too many to list). I know I forgot people... so sorry.
Most of you know, I don't usually take the pictures off of my digi... but for you guys, I'll make an exception.

Top experience at Marfa @pandelic
Heartbeat translates into spontaneous piano playing and pen plot. Polyrhythmic art.
My heart is here in Marfa at @artblocks_io house and now Eric has measured my beats to create music and art from it. Thank you 🫀

The Pope is about to discover cryptography.
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
