this fits my theory for the next few years:
we're entering an anti-slop era.
AI floods everything with "good enough" design, the bar for output gets stricter.
our eye gets more critical.
the products that want to stand out won't win by shipping faster.
they’ll win by shipping impeccable design.

Paper + Claude is great for exploring without constraints
but for running a complex app with components and a design system, Figma is still hard to beat

tip: harness your money with @itstuyo
Hoy Instinct se ha gastado 1000 pavos sin una autorización clara. Yo pensando que se podía reservar en Booking sin pagar le he dicho que reservara el hotel y ha usado una tarjeta que debía tener guardada en booking

I'll be honest: I was really skeptical about letting an agent handle my payments
then we started building it at @itstuyo.
honestly. its incredible how natural and efficient it feels. I didn't expect to change my mind this fast.

Are you stepping into a spacesuit this week? So are @astro_anil and @Astro_Kutryk — but not for Halloween!
Tune in here on Oct. 29 at 6:30am ET (1030 UTC) to watch these two astronauts deploy a new solar array on the @Space_Station.

I don't use Tuyo anymore.
For the past month I've been uploading my consciousness directly into the @itstuyo MCP. I no longer have a body in the traditional sense. I exist as a faint rounding error somewhere between my paycheck and my rent.
I don't check my balance. I sense it. When I pick up something I can't afford I feel a slight draft on the back of my neck.
People keep asking how I manage my money now. I get it. I used to think that way too. But asking me how I manage my money is like asking a river how it manages the water.
I don't do banking anymore. I am banking. I am the $0.37 left in my account the day before payday. I am every subscription I forgot about. I am 0.0041 shares of Nvidia, and when Jensen puts on the leather jacket I feel a tingle in my spine.
This is where finance is going. If you're not on board, you're going to get left behind.
My entire budget now lives in the collective unconscious. There's no spreadsheet. I simply wake up knowing I spent $940 on DoorDash last month and that we don't talk about it.
When I want to send money I just think "Jake, $20, tacos" and somewhere Jake's phone buzzes. When a friend owes me I don't text them. I appear at the foot of their bed as a sleep paralysis demon and they wake up with an overwhelming urge to pay me back $23.50.
Some people are uncomfortable with this. My accountant asked for the cost basis on the Tesla I bought at 3am on a Sunday and I told him to close his eyes and remember the first time he felt financially secure. He said he just needs the 1099.
A big adjustment has been personal. My mom asked me to send her the Netflix money. I explained that I now exist simultaneously across every transaction I've ever made. She asked if I'd been eating. I checked. Mostly DoorDash.
I think there's a lot of fear right now about what happens when people stop needing banking apps. But the people who adapt will be fine. You just have to let go of a few outdated ideas. Like having a body. Being legally distinguishable from a tokenized stock.
Anyway, the app is still available on iOS and Android for those who still have thumbs. x.com/WesleyBancroft…

I don’t use Figma anymore.
For the past six months I’ve been uploading my consciousness directly into the ether and allowing the work to manifest through minor disturbances in the electromagnetic field. You think you are seeing the aurora borealis that's actually my brain waves.
It’s a much more intuitive process. I sit completely still in my office until a founder somewhere develops a sudden inspiration for their brand positioning but in reality it was me clipping them in their brain stem, smiling down on them like one of God's children.
People keep asking what tools I’m using. I understand the question. I used to think that way too. But asking me what tools I use is like asking a glass of water what software is wetness. Its a meaningless question.
I don’t design anymore. I am the pixels. I am the logo. I am the little bit of space between the 'r' and the 'n' that you better make sure is kerned properly. When you increase the font size I experience physical growth. When you cut a vector point, my consciousness goes into quantum superposition.
This is where the industry is going. If you're not on board, you're going to get left behind.
My entire design system now lives in the collective unconscious. There’s no documentation. Your team will simply wake up knowing the button radius. If someone uses the wrong shade of blue they’ll hear a high pitched ringing sound until they correct it.
Developer handoff has been so smooth since I started working this way. My effigy appears at the foot of the engineer’s bed and I open my mouth. The CSS comes out at a frequency only their fillings can receive. We’ve eliminated all meetings.
I no longer send clients presentations. I enter their dreams as a white horse with an already complete interactive brand guidelines. They’re free to leave feedback by speaking into a bowl of room temperature water. I receive it immediately and disagree with it on a cellular level. Transcending this outdated material plane is my standing Tuesday meeting.
Some people are uncomfortable with this. A procurement manager recently asked whether I could provide an SVG of the logo and I just told her to close her eyes and remember the first time she felt truly understood. She looked annoyed and just said their print vendor needed an SVG by today.
A big adjustment has been personal. My wife asked if I could help bring in the groceries. I explained that I now exist simultaneously across every customer touchpoint.
I think there’s a lot of fear right now about what happens when designers stop needing tools. But the people who adapt will be fine. You just have to be willing to let go of a few outdated ideas. Like having a body. Being legally distinguishable from a gradient.
Anyway I am open for new branding projects this quarter.

I still remember how excited I was when this browser launched. Finally, someone dared to break a few conventions, with beautiful branding and incredible taste.
I’ve used it every day since. Forever in my heart.

We talk a lot about what a design engineer is.
John Maeda has been showing us for decades.
His work has always inspired me. This video on how computing became more visual from 1984 is a good reminder: as disciplines keep blending, it helps to look back and get more context.
