You send a small test transaction. It arrives safely.
Then a lookalike address appears in your transaction history.

Scammers can monitor public blockchain activity and create addresses that resemble ones you’ve recently used. They may then send a tiny transaction so the fake address appears alongside the legitimate one in your wallet history.

If you later copy that address without fully verifying it, you could send funds to the scammer instead.

That’s address poisoning.

How to help protect yourself:
• Re-copy the address from the original source
• Verify the full address, not just the first and last characters
• Save trusted addresses when possible
• Double-check the destination before sending

A successful test transaction is still only one step in verifying where your crypto is going. 🔐
