Correct.
Israel needs a bicameral legislature and reform of its judiciary so, so, badly. Basically it needs an actual written constitution. I get that its political architecture was designed by a bunch of democratic socialists racing to get a modern nation on its feet while fighting enemies in all directions. But come on. This system is absurd.

This is certainly an underestimated factor, even though security is a bigger issue in Israeli elections than probably anywhere else.
Netanyahu's election result has a simple explanation: Israel's economy is growing at 5% per annum ...and it is accelerating. It is extremely unusual for governments to lose elections when doing OK economically, let alone phenomenally well

The last time Marty Granoff ran a marathon was back in 1983. This Sunday, he’s lacing up for his sixth marathon — at 90 years old.
Granoff told @emmab929 that he’s logged more than 2,500 miles in the last 14 months to prepare for the big day while training with his running coach on’t be running alone. Three generations of Granoffs will take on the race together, with his son and grandson right alongside him.

This is the most moving post I've seen since the last Israeli election (3 weeks after 10/7), and this morning I felt compelled to seek it out.
May we merit seeing this type of unity without the tragedy that preceded it.

Love this!
On the right is Attorney Ran Bar-Yoshafat, VP at Kohelet Policy Forum, which advocated for judicial reform. On left is Gideon Segev, activist with 'Brothers in Arms', which protesting the reforms.
Now, they stand side-by-side, embracing each other as we fight Hamas!

Very compelling.
I’m not Charedi: Here’s why I’m voting for HaTzibbur HaCharedi 🧵
I’m worried about where Israel is heading. Tensions between factions seem to be growing higher and higher, and in many ways it seems like we’re on the cusp of a civil (or not so civil) war. We need a more sustainable way forward, both economically and in terms of national security, and I don’t think we can get there by treating a whole community as the enemy.
That’s why I’m voting for HaTzibbur HaCharedi. What draws me to the movement is its emphasis on אחריות, responsibility. We all have a responsibility to the country and to one another, and that means finding ways for more people to participate in building Israel’s future. I don’t agree with every position, and I’m not expecting the movement to solve everything overnight. But I think the approach it represents is important, and worth supporting even if, like me, you’re not Charedi.

The Venn diagram between my friends interested in D'vrei Torah and interested in Stephen Sondheim is small -- but each can learn from the other! (link in next post)

A candidate for the U.S. Senate says Israel is not America's friend.
I'm Israeli. I grew up in Israel. My family is Israeli. And I can tell you this: Few nations hold America as close to their hearts as Israelis do. Fact: Israelis admire America. 81% of Israelis view the United States favorably - the highest percentage among 36 countries surveyed by Pew in 2026. Who else in the Middle East does?
No other U.S. ally can have 200 fighter jets in the sky in 3 hours notice. Modest compared with America's military might, certainly. But backed by something more important: a profound commitment to the United States, regardless of who occupies the White House. Security is real. Capabilities are real. And friendship is real too. This candidate understands nothing of it. He is trying to pick up votes through hate.
None of this requires defending Netanyahu. None of it requires endorsing everything Israel has done in recent years.
It requires understanding one fact: Israel America's most enduring ally in the Middle East.
Criticizing an Israeli government is legitimate. Pretending Israel is America's enemy is something else entirely.
Any other notion is just bigotry masquerading as conspiracy theory- or conspiracy theory masquerading as bigotry.
