My attempt to protect users from scam apps on the @AppStore has gotten my Apple Developer account flagged for termination - ironically, for "dishonest activity".

Unless it's reversed by June 30, all new installs of Sparrow Wallet will fail, and development on macOS will end.

The context: since 2023, more than a dozen fake "Sparrow" apps have appeared on the App Store, as recently as April this year. Users have contacted me after losing their savings, in some cases their life savings, to these impersonators.

I'm the developer of the real Sparrow Wallet, a desktop app, and I hold the registered US trademarks for the name and logo. I have publicly warned @Apple and the community about these fake apps from early 2024, but they keep appearing.

The app @Apple flagged was a placeholder that was never published. Its only purpose was to warn users that Sparrow is desktop-only and that other "Sparrow" apps aren't mine. This approach may have been misguided, but there was nothing dishonest about it.

I'm confident this is an automated misclassification that Apple would reverse on review - but I may be terminated before a human ever looks at my appeal. The cost would fall on @Apple's own users: blocked installs and no updates for a tool people rely on, which opens the door for more fakes.

If you value Sparrow, a repost would help. @AppleSupport
@statusquont @bitcoinfool @Apple Didn’t work. App (with the screens below) was rejected for having “placeholder content” and only “demonstrating a concept”.

Love to see more multi-vendor multisig options to protect your bitcoin!

Not an endorsement, and always be mindful of the risks of hot wallets. Choose your quorum accordingly. 1 hot wallet in a 2-of-3 is reasonable for many use cases IMO.
So we tried a thing...

A multi-key, multi-app, multi-device, multi-OS, multi-entropy-source 2-of-3 Collaborative Wallet with @bitcoinKeeper_ as the coordinator and @bluewalletio plus @SparrowWallet as co-signers.

Boom💥... worked like magic. You don't need to trust any one device/ OS here. Also, cost = $0.00.

> Keeper on iOS
> BlueWallet on Android
> Sparrow on Mac/ desktop

You can see the same first address generated by all three which confirms that they are the same wallet. Now you can use Sparrow to create a PSBT/ transaction and get it signed by the two mobile based apps.

Note: Keeper also supports Airdrop, NFC, and QR for wallet creation and txn signing - which can be used based on it's counterparties capabilities.

Congrats to Ben and the team!
Today, we are excited to announce that we have raised over $11 million in funding, including a seed round led by @danielgross and @natfriedman , and a pre-seed round led by @mattturck at FirstMark, with participation from a number of industry leaders, including @tasso , Spencer Kimball, @calvinfo , Tristan Handy, Aston Motes, and many others.

Our goal at Espresso is to accelerate compute, and we believe Gen AI is the path to get there. We've already improved the state-of-the-art in data warehouse optimization - our first product is reducing our customers' Snowflake bills by as much as 5x, automatically - but we're not stopping there.

We plan to apply this technology to accelerate all of compute by 1000x.

Despite the fact that 2023 was a major down year for venture capital investment across the board, #Bitcoin Pre-Seed deals exploded 360%

I’m excited to finally announce our $6M seed round led by @InspiredCap
and with participation from an all-star group of angel investors, including @raylewis, @adamlyonsw, @MichaelRabil, @mflaxman, and @typesfaster.

It’s been a wild journey building consumer products and marketplaces over the last few years. While extremely challenging, it’s even that much more rewarding to uncover and build tools for creators to monetize their passion.

This wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team at @winible, the sports betting community, and our supportive investors!

In theory, you can always sell the ETF for fiat and then buy bitcoin, but:
1. This relies on the ETF being fully reserve and your brokerage behaving honestly (NYCNYC)
2. Assuming bitcoin price is up that will trigger a tax bill (in the US)

I find myself in the strange position of asking people to consider buying/custodying on an exchange if they won't buy real bitcoin 🤦‍♂️

As the value increases and they understand what they're HODLing, they can later withdraw to cold storage without paying any taxes.

The path of the new bitcoiner:
* Price exposure (ETF, MSTR, mining stocks, etc)
* Exchange account/custody
* Self custody in single sig SPV
* Self custody in strong multisig with personal node

I wish everyone would start at the last step, but that's not how adoption happens.

I’d still like to see an airgap and/or an easy way to use the device without leaking your xpub, but this is still a huge step forward.
